CELEBRATING A LIVING LEGEND — MADAM TOYIN OLADIRAN (ABENI AGBON)

Today I want to celebrate a veteran, a mother, and a pillar of Yoruba Nollywood — Madam Toyin Oladiran, popularly known and loved as Abeni Agbon.

She is not just an actress; she is an institution. For over three decades, this great woman has given her all to the Yoruba movie industry. From her humble beginning under the tutelage of Chief Ifayemi Elebuibon in _Ifa Olokun_, to her iconic breakout role in the late Alhaji Yekini Ajileye's _Koto Aye_ and _Segilola Abeni Agbon_ where she got the name that stuck with her forever, Mama has remained consistent, relevant and irreplaceable.

What I love most about her is her humility. Despite all her achievements and fame, she is so down-to-earth, so approachable, so motherly. And her versatility? Unmatched! Whether it's comedy, tragedy, wicked mother-in-law, loving mother, witch, or evangelist — Mama delivers with top notch perfection. Her acting is 100% natural, effortless and deeply captivating.

Meeting her physically for the very first time was indeed a great honour for me. A dream comes true. Such a humble soul with a beautiful spirit.

On this note, I pray for you Ma:

May God Almighty grant you a long life in good health, more wisdom, more knowledge, more understanding and abundant wealth. You will not labour in vain. You will eat the fruit of your labour. Your light will never go dim.

We love you so much Ma, and we celebrate you.

Much love and maximum respect, Ma

WHY IS OCTOBER 10TH MONTH INSTEAD OF 8TH?

REASON: Around 700 BCE, the Romans reformed their calendar by adding January and February to the beginning of the year.

Before this reform, the Roman year started in March and only had 10 months. By inserting two new months at the start, the entire calendar shifted forward by two places.

This is why the names of the final months no longer match their numerical order.
Under the new system:
- September comes from _septem_ meaning "7th"
- October comes from _octo_ meaning "8th"
- November comes from _novem_ meaning "9th"
- December comes from _decem_ meaning "10th"

Even though October was pushed from the 8th position to the 10th position, the Romans kept its original name.

In short: October is the 10th month instead of the 8th because a calendar reform added two months to the beginning of the year, which shifted all the later months forward but left their old names unchanged. by @kholyjayofficial
