Kim Donggi’s installation 𝘙𝘰𝘤𝘬 𝘐𝘴𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘥 depicts an urban landscape in which houses gather, disperse, and regroup. As houses multiply and cluster together, they form shapes resembling mountains and islands. Yet through urban redevelopment, these structures are dismantled, erased, and reassembled into new configurations. In this exhibition, visitors are invited to select and cut out a section of Rock Island to take home as part of a participatory art project.
김동기의 <바위섬>은 도시의 집들이 모이고 흩어지며 만들어내는 풍경을 담고 있다. 집들은 증식하고 밀집하여 하나의 산과 섬을 이루지만, 재개발과 함께 해체되고 사라졌다가 또 다른 모습으로 재구성된다. 이번 전시 《Cutting to Layers》에서는 관람객이 <바위섬>의 일부를 직접 선택하고 잘라 가져갈 수 있다.

Lee Daecheon’s landscapes do not simply represent specific places or subjects. Images drawn from nature and everyday life, along with personal memories and experiences, come together on a single canvas, creating new landscapes through their relationships with one another. Rather than presenting a single, predetermined narrative, his paintings leave open the possibility of being interpreted differently through each viewer’s own experiences and sensations.
이대천의 풍경은 특정 장소를 재현한 이미지가 아니라, 끊임없이 변화하고 연결되는 세계의 감각을 담은 하나의 세계이다. 다양한 시각적 요소들이 관계를 맺으며 형성하는 그의 작품은 자연과 인간, 기억과 현실이 교차하는 열린 공간으로서 관람자 각자의 경험과 해석에 따라 확장되는 회화적 세계를 구축한다.
