In 13 days I’ll be an alumna of North Carolina A&T State University and I’d choose it 1891 times again.

And honestly, this doesn’t even feel real.

I’ve been trying to find the words for this moment for years, but nothing could truly explain everything this journey has taken out of me and poured into me at the same time.

First, I just want to say thank you to God. There were so many moments I wanted to give up, so many nights I didn’t think I was strong enough… but He never let me fall.

To my friends and family, thank you for loving me through every version of myself. You saw me when I was struggling, when I was tired, when I didn’t believe in myself… and you never let me forget who I was.

These past six years tested me in ways I can’t even put into words. I’ve cried, I’ve doubted, I’ve felt lost… but I kept going. I chose me every single time. I refused to let where I come from define where I was going.

And now… I made it.

To the Ville: you will always have my heart. Thank you for growing me, humbling me, and shaping me into the woman I am today. Every setback, every delay, every lesson; it was all preparing me for this moment.

I didn’t just graduate… I overcame.

So to anyone out there who feels like giving up… please don’t. I know it gets hard, I know it feels heavy… but if I can make it through everything I’ve been through, so can you. Keep going. Your moment is coming.
