The air is crisp, the water is clear, and the crowds have thinned. Autumn in Kiama means long beach walks, ocean pools all to yourself, and rolling green hills glowing in the golden light.

From the raw power of the Blowhole to the stillness of a sunrise over the headland... this place is something else. Summer might be over, but the best days are just beginning.

Breathe it in. Dive in. Slow down. This is Kiama.

Well, well, well… look who’s taking the scenic route 👀🦔

While everyone’s been looking out to sea for the whale migration, this little local was busy stealing the show on the rocks at Bombo recently.

It’s one of the best things about exploring Kiama, you never quite know who you’ll bump into. Echidnas, seals, birds, dolphins, whales… sometimes the locals have other plans for your itinerary.

If you do cross paths with one of our wild locals, give them plenty of space, keep dogs well away and let them get on with whatever important business they have planned for the day.

A dip with a view? Gerringong certainly understood the assignment💦

At the southern end of Werri Beach, Gerringong Ocean Pool and Ourie Rock Pool are tucked into the rock shelf, with the Pacific out front and those unmistakable green hills behind.

And once you’ve dried off, there’s plenty more to fill the day. Wander up into town for coffee and a famous scroll from The Hill Bar and Kitchen, browse the local shops, hire a board from Natural Necessity Surf Shop and hit up Werri Beach, tackle the southern stretch of the Kiama Coast Walk, or settle in somewhere for a long lunch.

Our advice for this little slice of paradise? Don’t rush Gerringong. Discover more things to see and do in Gerringong via the link in our bio🔗

Some swimming pools come with lane ropes. Ours come with the Pacific Ocean💙

Tucked into the rock shelf below Blowhole Point, Blowhole Point Ocean Pool is saltwater swimming at its best. Waves rolling in beyond the edge, the lighthouse watching from above and the ocean stretching as far as you can see.

Come early when the morning light hits the water, float around for a while, then wander up to the Blowhole or into town for coffee. Pure magic!

And this is just one of them. You’ll find ocean and rock pools dotted along the coast from Minnamurra to Gerringong, each with its own pretty spectacular outlook.

Consider your Wednesday arvo sorted 🍓🥖💐

Daylight saving means longer afternoons AND the @kiamafarmersmarket is now kicking off from 3-6pm every Wednesday.

Bring the kids down for a mosey. Let them pick out the strawberries (even if they’re the covered-in-chocolate kind), grab a bunch of fresh flowers, stock up on fruit and veg, meet the people who grow and make the good stuff, and stick around for an early dinner while the live music does its thing.

Naturally, you’ll also need a sourdough for home and a sweet treat for the road. And if the weather’s playing nice, chuck the swimmers in the bag and finish with a dip at Surf Beach.

Want to know who’ll be selling goodies this week? Keep an eye on the @kiamafarmersmarket page for the weekly vendor line up.

There’s always one in the group… 👀

The one who’s up early and straight to the beach. The one who packed the paddleboard. The one suggesting a walk before you’ve even finished breakfast. And, of course, the one who brought the golf clubs.

Luckily, staying at Beach House on Johnson puts you in a pretty handy spot for all of them.

With Jones Beach just down the road and Cathedral Rocks, Boneyard, Minnamurra River, the Kiama Coast Walk and Kiama Golf Club all nearby, there’s plenty to fill a few days on this side of town.

And with room for seven, you really can bring them all.

Find Beach House on Johnson and more places to stay via the link in our bio.

Which holiday-er are you?

This is your sign to put the out-of-office on and sneak away for a midweek reset👀

We’re talking emails unanswered, alarms unset, an unreasonable amount of time spent staring at rolling green hills and an afternoon agenda that consists of… wine, cheese, fire and not much else, really.

Tucked away in the countryside just outside Kiama, @cicadaluxcamping makes switching off pretty easy. Think luxury tents, baths and hot tubs with a view, wildlife wandering by and evenings around the fire.

And the best part about a midweek escape? Everyone else is at work.

Plan your Kiama stay via the link in bio.

Mirror, mirror on the river... 🪞

Just north of Kiama, where Minnamurra River meets the Pacific Ocean, there's no question who's the prettiest of them all. Meet Rangoon Island (also known as Stack Island), named after a shipwreck in 1870.

This neck of the woods is beautiful from sunrise to sunset. Pack a picnic, take a dip in the river, explore by kayak or paddleboard (our friends at @supshellharbour can help you out), or head up to Minnamurra Headland for sweeping coastal views.

It's also the northern starting point of the Kiama Coast Walk, if you're keen to stretch your legs. Or if the bellies start rumbling, @mysticsatthegolfie is just a short walk away.

The best bit? You can catch the train to Minnamurra and explore it all on foot. No car required!
