Meet Clement! He is one of our lovely parents who gets to see first hand about the impact 347 makes. Not only is he a proud parent but he does so much for the codas of color community and NYC disability advocacy as Director for MADA @madanyc2002 uplifting and empowering our Asian Deaf community. Thank you for all of the work you do to support!

🍎 Fundraising for the @nycmarathon charity team: P.S. 347, The American Sign Language & English Lower School, is a Dual Language PreK-to-8 public school in NYC serving d/Deaf, hard-of-hearing (DHOH), CODA (children of deaf adults), and hearing students. We are a non-zoned mainstream school centrally located in Manhattan. Our families come from all over NYC to be a part of this special place - a place where hearing differences are the norm, and everyone feels like they truly belong. We are on a quest to become the most inclusive school for the Deaf community, and strive to create a new generation of hearing allies and advocates.

Meet Kyle! Coda alumni; Still trying to put into words how much all of this support means to me. The amount of messages, love, and encouragement I’ve received leading up to the NYC Marathon has been overwhelming in the most beautiful way. As a CODA (Child of Deaf Adults), this journey and the meaning behind it are especially close to my heart. I hope other codas see this and feel inspired to lead by representation.

I may not be able to respond to every message, but please know that I’ve felt every bit of the love. I’m beyond grateful for this community, for everyone cheering me on, and for all the support along the way. Thank you for making this journey feel even more special. 🗽 let’s keep on making magic for the students at PS347 and PS47!

(I HAVE BEEN FEELING ALL OF THE FEELS & can’t stop crying … truly, thank you thank you thank you everyone🥹🤎)

Meet Jovany! Being a CODA means growing up with one foot in two worlds, yet having your heart belong to both. It means carrying the beauty, struggles, and stories of the Deaf community with you wherever you go. Sometimes it means growing up a little faster, translating more than just words, and understanding that your experience is different from everyone else’s. But above all, it means being forever grateful for the hands that raised you, the language that shaped you, and the beautiful world that taught you to see beyond sound. Full of gratitude🤟🏾

Meet Kristin! From being a student of PS347 to becoming a Teacher of the Deaf, this journey has come full circle. Seeing firsthand the impact education here makes can help Deaf & hard of hearing students feel empowered to communicate in whatever mode of language they choose.

Meet Anthony! A proud alumni of both PS347 & PS47. At PS 347, students learn to navigate and find the balance between the Deaf and hearing worlds, embracing different ways of communicating while staying true to who they are! In one subject, teachers (Deaf & Hearing) can have a mixed classroom with Deaf, coda and hearing identifying students in that core curriculum. ASL interpreters are provided for full access. You may find Anthony volunteering with the @kodagift program where every year we facilitate a school wide holiday event ensuring students a good start with their mental health through fun & grounded activities. This will be our 6th year back at 347. Keep a look out for us! We are so grateful for the alumni that continues to give back to the community that helped raised us.

Meet Alonso & Karan! The memories and connections made at school runs for a lifetime. Whether you identify as Hard of Hearing, Deaf, coda, and/or hearing; leading up to marathon day, you’ll see some community members within 347. I hope you get a better idea of my ‘WHY’ for being apart of this marathon team. Without the Deaf loved ones in my life, I would not be the coda I am today ❤️

It feels to surreal to know that the @nycmarathon is less than a month away! As a first time runner; this journey and self development chapter has been one for the books- I STILL CANT BELIEVE IM DOING THIS.

Grateful for the @runna app for curating my marathon training plan and for humans in the @aslrunnyc_ community to keep me going when I’m feeling meh. Ended my week 17 with @the_manual_shop where I was able to learn more about how I can be an effective & safe runner while keeping my body in mind.

🗽I’m a proud fundraiser/charity runner for @ps347asl . We are a title 1 school located in NYC where Deaf/Hard of Hearing/ coda and Hearing students can learn together via ASL and English. Funds raised can help with supplementals such as; school lunches, books, clothes, hearing aids access support and not limited to other extracurricular activities students may need.

✨Link to donate is located in my bio. Any donation big or small will be greatly appreciated💚 #marathon #charityrunner #deaf #coda by @kiana_geee

We are officially at the halfway mark of my fundraising goal. Feeling all of the emotions… excited, grateful, nervous and so incredibly motivated. Every single donation, share, message and bit of encouragement has been so helpful. THANK YOU, THANK YOU,THANK YOU. It truly means more than I can put into words. (For those who don’t know, I’ve never ran a race prior to this moment… I know, CRAZY)

As we celebrate #deafawarenessmonth reflecting on my #coda identity, I would not be the coda I am today without the Deaf people in my life. You have shaped who I am, how I see the world and the woman I continue to become. I’m so proud to run with that part of me every step of the way.

60 days left til’ @nycmarathon !!!!#fundraiserrunner link in my bio ✨ @ps347asl 🍎 any donation big or small will be greatly appreciated by @kiana_geee
