Someone told me about a theory in quantum physics that explains how the human heart has access to the energy at the periphery of the ever-expanding universe -the heart is essentially a portal in the way of a quantum field. You can visit this portal, you can plant seeds, meditate here, and you can tap into this endless energy. They told me this while viewing this piece of art I created. The main inspiration/motifs in this work are mushrooms and mycelium -at the center is a human heart. I often represent this imagery to express interconnection, the intelligence of nature, and regeneration -to name a few concepts. While I paint, color and improvisational creative process take the reins and I create what I feel called to as I do it. While, I imbue a piece with intention and specific subject matter, it is ultimately up to the direction “the conversation” I’m having with a piece to guide me to a full expression. I’m sharing all this particularly with this painting because it’s heart-healing and heart-empowering which feels likes a mighty reminder right now as we navigate taking our power back from forces and ways of living that we don’t consent to. May we remember how to consent with our hearts and be guided by the organs of perception. by @kiazora

🌸”Hollyhocks”🌸 one day I found a few lengths of vintage picture moulding in a free box in Portland or. -it must have been from a deconstruction project. I knew I wanted to build a frame with it -so when I procured a long panel I decided I absolutely needed to paint Hollyhocks! -and frame it with this special moulding. With the help of a friend, we put together this piece (I framed it before I painted it) Holly hocks are such a dear flower to me. They really are an essential plant to any cottage garden :) they are part of the mallow and hibiscus family and have deep roots in Asia and Europe. ✨🩷✨
This piece is still available -as you can see it’s long and narrow, perfect for those areas in your home where a window and wall might be close together or for an entryway or hallway where you want everlasting flowers!

The work I do is grounded in ecological intelligence, in the interconnected web of all life. “Refuge” is an ode to the life-sustaining power of water. The body belonging to the bird is a nourishing aspect of moister and is akin to the body of the cactus, the owl, the frogs, lizards, and microbes contained within -symbolism of the earth as a whole, many parts making it so.. I thoroughly believe we are here to belong in beauty -take that how you will. My perception of beauty encompasses both becoming and decay -so that something entirely unique can evolve✨

This piece is still available and will be included in the preview show for @pdxopenstudios on Sep 25th!
Come see her in person!

I paint what comes when it comes.. I hold an underlying sense that everything is interconnected, that color is a vast language, and that the creative process works in mysterious ways -we just have to learn to listen ✨

I finished this piece about a month ago. “Companion” is a part of a series of bird pairs which represent partnership in my visual lexicon. -this one is particularly dreamy and soft with more warm tones than the last large-format piece I did -perhaps I’m learning something in my own life? The sunset drenched waters and complimentary blue hues signify reaching for balance as companionship is built and explored. I hope you Enjoy ✨ come find this piece and myself @oregoncountryfair next weekend Booth L18 after the bridge at Jill’s crossing 💕
