Meet Noah Segan, writer and director of “The Only Living Pickpocket in New York.”

When a theft goes awry, a veteran pickpocket is sent on a mission through New York to reclaim the stolen goods.

A multi-generational New Yorker, Segan shot the film across Brooklyn, the Bronx neighborhood his grandfather grew up in, and on 26th Street where he was raised, capturing a city that’s always changing and somehow never does.

Watch “The Only Living Pickpocket in New York” at the 2026 #SundanceFilmFestival (Jan 22–Feb 1). Visit festival.sundance.org for more information. by @kidblue

💫 Exciting news! We are thrilled to honor the iconic actor, writer and director John Turturro with the Golden Eye Award for his brilliant performance in THE ONLY LIVING PICKPOCKET IN NEW YORK, written and directed by Noah Segan.

We look forward to welcoming Turturro in person at the #ZFF2026, where he will present his film and accept the award on September 26. Audiences will also have the opportunity to gain insights into his remarkable acting and filmmaking career during a ZFF Master session on September 27.

About the film:
In his heyday, his skill and street smarts made him a master of his craft. But at nearly 70, pickpocket Harry Lehman (John Turturro) is struggling in digital-age New York. When Harry steals a USB drive from a young man one night, he has no idea who he’s messing with and finds himself in the crosshairs of a ruthless crime family. A nostalgic New York crime thriller, carried by a magnificent John Turturro.

Further details can be found via the link in our bio.
