Building the arm. ⚾️💪

180 feet on long toss today — but the goal isn’t just to see how far I can throw, it's keeping mechanics in check and building arm strength.

Today’s progression ⬇️
10-20 throws at each distance.

⚾️ Warm up with an easy football toss around 40’
⚾️ Start throwing at 60’
⚾️ Gradually stretch it out: 90’ ➡️ 120’ ➡️ 150’
⚾️ Let the ball have some natural arc as the distance increases
⚾️ 180' was the longest throw of the day — not a distance for repeated max-effort throws
⚾️ Walk it back in, gradually shortening the distance and finishing with controlled throws

A few things we focus on throughout long toss:

• Build distance gradually — don’t rush to max distance
• Stay loose and let the body work
• Keep good throwing mechanics as the distance increases
• Quality throws > chasing a number
• Stop when mechanics start to break down or the arm feels fatigued
• Recovery matters just as much as the throwing

For us, long toss is about developing the entire throw over time — arm strength, intent, movement and confidence. I repeat this progression twice a week during the off season, and incorporate stretching and recovery based arm care alongside it. 💪🏼

No shortcuts. Just consistent work. 📈

Kidd Ory is a young standout out of Louisiana who is already making serious noise on the baseball field 🔥. The Shockers athlete brings impressive talent on both sides of the ball and continues to show why he is a special young player.

On the mound, Ory brings a competitive mentality and impressive pitching ability for his age. He attacks hitters with confidence and continues to develop his arsenal. His talent on the mound was recognized when he earned Most Valuable Pitcher at the 2026 PG H-Town Club Championships, an impressive accomplishment against strong competition 🚨.

At the plate, Kidd brings a strong right handed swing and the ability to make things happen offensively. He shows good barrel control and continues to develop more power as he grows. Defensively, he brings energy and confidence to both shortstop and catcher.
