💥 Whatever you do - don’t buy my programs if you want your kids to stay clueless about money.(😅 See what I did there?)Because here’s the truth: financial literacy isn’t “extra credit.” It’s a real-life survival skill. That’s why I built Live Skills Money, a series of programs that helps kids ages 9-13 learn to budget, save, spend wisely, and even start thinking about earning and investing.👉 For schools, homeschool groups, and learning pods, there’s the full LSM Academy.👉 At home, you can jump into one of my many Money Missions or the Crash Course.👉 And coming soon: the Home Edition of Academy - so every family can have access to my signature course. The question isn’t if your kids will learn about money… it’s how. Will it be the hard way when they’re out on their own - or the safe way now, while you can guide them?✨ Decide which program fits your family best and let’s get your kids money-smart for life.#FinancialLiteracyForKids #SmartMoneySkills #RaisingMoneySmartKids #ParentingTips #MomHacks #FinancialEducation #LiveSkillsMoney #kidslovemoney #reallifeskills by @kierstead.deb

Teaching kids money skills doesn’t have to take hours… here’s how parents can do it in minutes. ⏰💵The secret is having a “Money Moments Bank” ready to go - everyday opportunities to teach a quick money lesson without it feeling like a lecture. 🏦✨Here’s how to do it:• Create a “Money Moments” note or folder on your phone (share with your partner if you can) 🗂️• Make a list of everyday situations that could turn into quick lessons - like grocery shopping, paying for gas, or getting birthday money 🎂• When one happens, pause for 1–2 minutes to explain the why behind your choice or action (e.g., “I’m buying the store brand because it’s 30% cheaper”) 🛒• Jot a quick reminder in your note so you don’t forget to repeat these mini-lessons later 📋• Keep adding to your list so you have go-to ideas when you’re short on time ⏰Doing this upfront makes teaching financial literacy part of your everyday life — no extra curriculum or long lectures required 🙌💬 Comment MONEY MOMENTS and I’ll send you my free list of 26 real-life money lesson ideas you can start using with your kids this week! There’s 1 a week for 6 months!.....#raisingmoneysmartkids #parentingtips #financialliteracyforkids #financialeducation #moneymindsetforkids #intentionalparenting#reallifeskills by @kierstead.deb

For a long time, I kept hearing my kids say, “Can I have $20?” and honestly, I didn’t know how to help them really get money. 💶 I wondered how to teach them what I wish someone had taught me. Should I just tell them to save? Budget? Earn?I wasn’t sure where to start—maybe because I was scared to admit I didn’t have it all figured out myself. But here’s the truth: our kids need to learn this stuff. And we need to be the ones showing them how.So I started creating fun, hands-on lessons that make money real and approachable for kids 9-13.It’s not perfect, but it works. And I want to share it with you.If you want your kids to stop begging and start budgeting, follow me for tips and grab my free guide: “Money Mission: Budgets.”Are you ready? Behind the scenes in my Live Skills Money class and I just heard the best sound.“Awwww, it’s over already?!”Followed by actual BOOING because our session was ending. When kids boo that money class is over? You know you’ve done something right. No forced smiles. No checking the clock. No “is this almost done?”Just kids who are genuinely bummed that:→ Budget practice is wrapping up→ They have to stop their savings challenge→ Money games are ending for the dayOne kid asked if we could “go overtime” to finish their spending strategy. For BUDGETING.This is what Live Money Skills looks like when you make it feel like play instead of school.Hit follow if you want your kids asking for more money lessons! by @kierstead.deb

Teaching kids money skills doesn’t have to be heavy. You don’t need a finance degree. You don’t need a 47-step curriculum. You don’t need to have your own money perfectly figured out.You need 5 minutes. Real moments. And permission to make it fun.Skip the lectures. Ditch the worksheets. Let them hold real cash. Make a spending decision at Target. Play a budgeting game at dinner. When money skills feel like play - they stick.👇 Are you impressed with my head tray carrying skills? Allowance questions? Here’s the one thing most parents forget to decide first.Should it be tied to chores or not?Honestly - either can work. But here’s the problem:Most families never actually decide. They just wing it. And when the rules keep shifting, kids don’t learn anything.Tie it to chores → kids learn money is earned.Keep it separate → chores are expected because you’re part of a family, and allowance becomes a money skills tool. Some families do both: base chores everyone does (no pay) + extra jobs they can earn from. The method matters less than the consistency.So... where do you land?👇 Comment “CHORES” or “NO CHORES” - I want to hear your take. by @kierstead.deb

These 3 shifts changed everything. 💛❌ “We can’t afford it” → Now I say: “That’s not in our budget right now — but let’s figure out how YOU could save for it.”❌ Allowance without a plan → Every dollar now has a job: spend, save, give. No more handing over cash and hoping for the best.❌ Waiting for schools → Spoiler: they’re not covering it. So I stopped waiting and started teaching.Small changes. Big results. My son bought his first house at 24. Not luck - skills.📌 Save this if you’re ready to do things differently.👇 Follow for more simple ways to raise money-smart kids! by @kierstead.deb

The worksheet went straight in the trash. But that $5 they spent on something they regretted? They still think about it.Kids don’t learn money from fill-in-the-blanks. They learn it from doing. From spending. From messing up when the stakes are small.Give them real money. Let them make real choices. Let them feel the ouch of a bad one. That’s the lesson that sticks.Double-tap if your kid learns best by doing 👇 by @kierstead.deb

I avoided teaching my kids about money. Not because I didn’t care. Because I felt like a fraud.I’d made mistakes. Big ones. I thought - who am I to teach them about money when I’ve messed it up myself? So I didn’t. I figured they’d figure it out eventually. Here’s what I’d tell my younger self:Your mistakes are exactly why you should teach them. You know what not to do. You know how it feels to climb back out. That’s not a weakness. That’s experience. You don’t need a finance degree. You need five minutes and a real conversation.Start small. Let them hold real money. Let them mess up while the stakes are low. That’s the lesson that sticks.Comment RELATE if you’ve ever avoided teaching money because you felt unsure 👇 by @kierstead.deb

You don’t need a finance degree to teach your kid about money. You need 3 steps.Talk. Pick one money moment this week and ask a simple question.Plan. Spend 5 minutes looking at what they’re saving for and how close they are.Do. Let them make one real spending decision with their own money. That’s the whole system. Simple. Repeatable. No prep required.💛 Like this if you want more simple 3-step money plans. 📌 Save this for the next time you’re not sure where to start. by @kierstead.deb
