If you’ve ever wondered why I add Olaplex into your lightener, here’s the real tea 👇💗

Olaplex isn’t just a “nice extra.”
It’s a bond-builder—meaning it literally helps repair broken disulfide bonds inside your hair as we lighten.
And for it to actually work, it has to be used correctly. Here’s how I do it:

1️⃣ Step 1 – Olaplex No.1 (Bond Multiplier)
This is what gets mixed directly into your bleach/lightener.
It protects your bonds from breaking during the chemical process.
✅ Allows for healthier lightening
✅ Helps reduce breakage
✅ Keeps blonde bright without sacrificing integrity

2️⃣ Step 2 – Olaplex No.2 (Bond Perfector)
This one gets applied at the bowl after rinsing the bleach.
This step is where the magic finishes working.
✅ Reconnects more bonds
✅ Adds strength
✅ Keeps hair feeling soft instead of compromised

3️⃣ Why your stylist matters
The right formulas + correct Olaplex ratios + proper timing =
💗 Healthier blonding
💗 Longer-lasting color
💗 Less breakage and frizz
💗 A prettier grow-out

At Kiki West Colors, protecting your hair will always be just as important as making it pretty.
Healthy blondes ✨ are the only blondes I do

Part 1: Why choosing your artist matters 🎨✨

Not all highlights are created equal — and not every stylist approaches placement, saturation, and formulation the same way.

This transformation started as a full color correction after my client came in with a very specific goal, but the existing highlight pattern underneath was extremely inconsistent: uneven sections, harsh bands, random placement, and pieces that didn’t flow together at all.

The thing about highlights is this:
they aren’t just about making hair lighter — they create movement, dimension, softness, and overall balance. When placement is off, it affects the entire end result and often makes achieving your goal much more complicated (and much more time consuming).

In cases like this, before creating the look she actually wanted, I first had to carefully isolate what had been done, work through unwanted contrast, and rebuild a more intentional foundation strand by strand.

A beautiful result almost always starts with a strong foundation — and that foundation comes from choosing a stylist who understands not just how to lighten hair, but how to place color with purpose.

Sometimes my job isn’t just creating something pretty — it’s correcting what shouldn’t have happened in the first place.

From mess to masterpiece — part 1 🤍

It was a long crazy process she absolutely showed up ready for the transformation of her life.

The gasp when we turned her around??
That’s the moment I live for.

She’s a gem. This hair is a gem. And I will NEVER forget to record again! 🥰😜 by @kikiwestcolors
