THE CURSE OF THE FORGOTTEN LOVE
Shares, saves, comments appreciated.
I love how Gege Akutami included a Junji Ito special. Manga readers, if you know, you know. 👀
The small details might not mean a lot when zoomed out, but to me, I had the most fun making those tiny strokes. I love indulging in minute details and that’s probably why I’m inspired by Ito, Kentarou Miura, and Takehiko Inoue. I love this art and the whole journey of making it. I’ve come to learn how I want to portray my artistic expressions and style. Once this is printed, I’m gonna continue indulging myself in the details! Haha

Even though this piece collected dust in my drafts after the lineart stage for almost two years, I’ve always thought of ways how to complete this piece. Until I finally did.
I’m nowhere near where I want to be, but I’ve come to embrace every step of the journey. And with that, part 2 is coming next!

Edward Elric X Fallen Angel (Alexandre Cabanel)

If I tell you why I chose Cabanel’s 1847 painting as inspiration to draw Ed, then that would defeat the whole purpose of my painting. 😜 Completing this piece has given me a lot of pain and suffering.. No joke.
The rendering (especially the hair) may not be the best, but I’m satisfied with my improvements, especially that I did this on Photoshop, which has been a difficult transition up to this day. Nevertheless, the software has been really helping me a lot.

Thanks to my practice server friends on discord for the support and continuous feedback. You know who you are. 🥰

Beyond excited that @chrisdhutton and I will be at @c2e2 together as Brightbounce Studio! Come see us at artist alley table X-12 for some cool comics and fanart. And while you’re at it, chitchat about comics, anime, and wrestling!

Just a few more days before @c2e2! This artwork is not my usual anime fanart but I really enjoyed and it really felt like I’m inside the artwork living the moment! This C2E2 exclusive print will be available for purchase for $15 each at table X-12 of artist alley this coming weekend, April 11-13. Each purchase comes with a handwritten note of what C2E2 and Chicago mean to me and a free sticker! I will only be bringing 15 prints and won’t be restocking them so make sure to grab yours as early as possible. 😇
