5. Good Life ft. T-Pain✨

My long awaited grad pics that are finally getting to see the light of day. I am officially done with nursing school!! It’s such a crazy thing to say. At the start of every semester we do a discussion post that always says the same thing: “why do you want to become a nurse?” My answer is always the same & it all comes down to me being born with sickle cell, a chronic illness. Having a chronic illness that not only physically takes a toll on you, but is also highly judged and misunderstood, can be tough to deal with. I chose nursing because I wanted to go into pediatric hematology/oncology to be there for children who have my disease, & others. I wanted to be a nurse that when I walk into a patients room with my illness, they would see me & feel safe, because we shared the same skin color. Having this disease, has made me who I am today. I was able to persevere through nursing school with this illness. There were times where I went into crisis from stress, having to take exams in a hospital bed or at my hematology clinic. While receiving blood transfusions, fluids, & pain medications, I would be studying for exams. My nursing school journey was like no other, but it also shows that no matter what you’re going through, if you put your mind to anything, you can achieve it. I cannot even put into words how ecstatic I am for officially being able to say, I MADE IT THROUGH NURSING SCHOOL!!! I am so thankful for God, who always has protected & guided me through this journey. I’m thankful for my parents, siblings, cousins, aunts, uncles, friends, peers, & professors, who supported me. I’m thankful just for myself, the strength & courage I endured during this crazy journey. I cannot wait to see what the future has in store for me, but I know that whatever it is, I am up for the challenge. Now let me reintroduce myself, Beatrice Akweley Nortey, BSN. 🤍🩺✨

realized I never posted the true reason I went across the pond 🇬🇧I’m so blessed that I was able to see my fav @honeymoon in another country with my beautiful friends, along with making new ones. truly a magical experience I can’t describe. Wembley night one & two I’m reminiscing and I can’t wait for the next time❤️🌟

11. Blackbird

Seek To Be Grateful 🌳🌱🏔️
I spent my first weekend of 27 at one of my favorite places on earth surrounded by so many beautiful amazing individuals that make you feel whole. Seek is so special. I always say that this retreat not only helps heal stuff within the kids, but also within all of us adults too. Every year I learn something new about myself because of how wise these kids are. It’s such an honor to be able to see these young people grow because of the tools we’re given, and just how open we are with our experiences in life. We shed some tears, had A LOT of laughter, and so many hugs. The candlelight ceremony is always my favorite night because of how we’re able to open up with each other and pass no judgement. I truly love every single person in these pictures. Remember to be gracious to yourself, because we’re our biggest critics when we need to realize that we are human and shouldn’t be so hard on ourselves. taken in Torino Ranch by @kilosdlrey

🦋Camp Cartwheel 2024🦋

ahhhhhh I don’t even know how to explain how amazing this year at Camp Cartwheel was because I’m still wishing I was up there in my personal oasis. first I want to say I’m so grateful for the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation @nvccf and all of those on the camp planning committee. getting on those zoom sessions and seeing all our plans come together really always will leave a smile on my face. next I want to say shoutout to Nurse Ninja (@breashleyt) Nurse Lame, Nursepresso and Lil Wasabi (Dr. Waseem)💕 this was my first year being in medshed and I wouldn’t have enjoyed it so much without them and of course all the kiddos. I learned so much in so little time and I am so thankful for that. being in medshed vs being a counselor was a different but an amazing experience. as a counselor you’re always go go go with the kiddos, but being in medshed you’re seeing all the kiddos whether they need a splinter taken out, some otter pops to cool off, or just come by for a water fight. I wouldn’t have it any other way! I’m also just so blessed to see so many old faces and new faces, and it’s always a life changing experience whether you’ve been doing since you were five (like me) or it is your first year. no matter what, camp will always change your life, and make your heart turn to mush because of seeing how strong these kiddos are and we get to make their outside lives disappear for a few days. I also got to do a podcast at camp with wish insanity in a good way so thank you @bretttorinofoundation for that opportunity to let me speak about my person experience being a camper, turned counselor to nurse! I am so blessed to call all these people my family for life, and I’ve made the best friends here and I would never have it any other way. next year we’ll be going back to two sessions so I can’t wait didn’t even more children to get to come up and experience camp magic!! so until next year Camp Cartwheel💕🧚🏾‍♀️ -Butterfly 🦋 taken in Torino Ranch by @kilosdlrey
