Ella turned 23 today and we celebrated by eating ribs per her request for her birthday meal. She’s talked about it almost daily for six months! Her birthday is her favorite day of the year and it was nice to hear from so many of you who love her. She loved reading every text and getting the videos too. My sister, Erica, and I met our dad in San Diego in late May to celebrate his 75th birthday coming up this month. We walked, ate and laughed our way through the city together because our dad really is an explorer who is up for anything. Dad, I am thankful for you every day of the year. I love you so much! Life lately…the last three weeks or so.
1. The exact peony variety that usually grows in my yard but were frozen off early were at Trader Joe’s the week of graduation. A gift straight from heaven for me!
2. I received a “Courage Award” from the Kansas Project SEARCH for advocating for people with disabilities. My friend, Leanne, did as well. My girl Ella is the one with real courage and when I think about how much she has every day I get weepy. She’s the one who deserves every courage award. Thank you to those who nominated me. I was so touched by the gesture.
3. I love this pic of Ella from a high school swim meet.
4. Talia leaping back out of the water during her back stroke: How does she do this with such grace?
5. If you ask Ella if she wants Thai food the answer is always YES. She’s even willing to try with chopsticks even if it’s only for a noodle or two.
6. Mother’s Day 2026
7. My dad, Bruce & Travis cut and washed 50lbs of fruit for the grad party in less than an hour. So thankful they were so willing! Thanks again you guys!!

May 16, 2026– Talia graduated from high school and my Dad and Travis were here to help us celebrate her! We threw a party with her friends, Quinlyn and Lauryn, right after the ceremony and went to bed late, but so happy. Bruce and I are so grateful for all the people who love Talia, and have encouraged her (and us!) along the way. Excited for her as she plans to attend MidAmerica Nazarene University this fall. by @kimberleejost

Last day of high school for Talia! I remember her telling me she wanted to walk in by herself on her first day of kindergarten and thinking “Whose kid is this?” because neither Bruce or I would have said that at her age. 😂 How many more times have I said this in wonder? It may be the most wonderful time of the year, but it’s also one of the busiest! We celebrated our 25th anniversary tonight by going to Talia’s basketball game. We then came home and crashed on the couch with charcuterie and a little more basketball on tv. This life we have here together is a good one. Someone asked me what my week was like, and all I could come up with in the moment was that Ella was sick. The truth is it was a very good and hard week with some long days. Anyone else?? Still, there is plenty to be thankful for.
1. the Northern Lights!
2. Pippa’s spot where she naps on me.
3. Ella and I watching many hours of Veggie Tales and Fuller House to pass the time while she was sick.
4. Warm weather and sitting on the front porch to watch the sun set at 5:00 pm.
5. A date night with my fave at a the fanciest Thai restaurant I have ever been to @bamboopennys .
6. @taylorleon in concert @jaminato’s house! What a poet, songwriter and voice Taylor has! She sang my favorite @missionhousemusic song Psalm 116
and I cried. “I love you, Lord. For you have delivered me.” 🎶

One Day HH: one day, hour by hour—or kind of like that. A day spent mostly at home, and one that gave me a lot of joy and was filled with simple joys: coffee, time with Ella, putting things away, clean floors, John 21, twinkle lights, pups, dinner with my family, and stars shining over our house.
