Queens of the Jungle: Meet the Female Animals Who Rule the Animal Kingdom! By Dr. Carly Ann York
Available for preorder on Amazon, Walmart, Target, Barnes and Noble and more. Link in bio (affiliate link)

🐈🦀🐘🦇

So happy to share Queens of the Jungle with you all! It was so much fun to work on and I truly enjoyed working with the brilliant team at Neon Squid. Shoutout to Jo!!

🦆🦍🐍🐝

Discover the coolest female animals in the natural world with biologist Dr. Carly Anne York.

Male lions are often referred to as the “Kings of the Jungle” because they are thought to be the strongest, bravest, and fiercest animals in the world. This is a myth. In fact, it’s the lionesses that are out hunting together and taking down large animals to feed their entire pack, including the males!

In this illustrated animal book, filled with fun facts and incredible artwork from Kimberlie Clinthorne-Wong, readers will be inspired by other examples of girls getting it done. They’ll meet orca grandmothers who are in command of their pods, sex-changing clownfish, and backflipping female ants. They’ll be stunned by the female blanket octopus, who is 80 times bigger than the males of the species, and be left gobsmacked by an entirely female species of lizard!

Packed with groundbreaking science and stunning illustrations, Queens of the Jungle is the perfect book for kids who love learning about animals. by @kimiewng

Friends, I’ve illustrated a book! Lessons From my Ancestors: Equality, Inclusivity and Sustainability in the Ancient World by @raksha_digs is officially available in UK bookstores, today, May 11th! (Available in the US in 2024 😉)

“This unforgettable journey back through time with archaeologist and TV presenter Raksha Dave casts a spotlight on forgotten histories and misrepresented stories. Told through 50 objects, this groundbreaking book offers a fresh perspective on our past to inspire you to build a better future.”

I feel so incredibly grateful to have had this opportunity. ✨A huge mahalo to @raksha_digs and to the team at @magiccatpublishing (hiya Steph and Helen!)✨

Today’s #bookswithbreakfast is inspired by this fun day - National Taco Day 🌮🌮🌮🌮

I couldn’t let this day go by without celebrating!!Tacos are a major hit in our house, they’re the magic trick that gets my kids to try new foods! Somehow, if it’s in a taco, they’re all in. 😅
Anyone else’s kids the same way? 🙋‍♀️

I had to highlight these two super fun and cute books for this exciting day.

Five Wild Roosters for @beachhousepublishing published last month 🐓huge thank you to Jane for bringing me on to illustrate this project! It was such a fun book to work on. Each rooster has a unique design and each spread inspired by locations in Kaua‘i. I’ve included wandering chicks throughout the book- can you find them?

Wild roosters are ubiquitous across the Hawaiian Islands, most notably on the island of Kaua‘i where they seem to roam everywhere from parking lots to backyards to beaches and everywhere in between.

This engaging and funny board book counts down from five to one as roosters are shooed away only to come back again.

I received this project soon after M was born, so it seems only fitting to have him make an appearance 😝Slide 2 is the cover I designed that didn’t make it to print, I enjoy it so thought I’d share.

Fun post its for @giantrobotstore #postitshow2025

I wanted to be prepared, so I started these #illustrations back at the end of ‘24, when I was pregnant with Monte. I’ve had Mom brain for nearly 5 years now and couldn’t remember where I “safely” stashed them. Thankfully we found ‘em. Check em out at GR2!

Thank you @giantrobotstore and @mark_todd for having me ☺️ by @kimiewng
