A hot mess, but a pleasant one.📍Dublin
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Last night was our very first practice at our new home here in Dublin ❤️🤍🖤

It’s Te Wiki o te Reo Māori, and I’ve never felt more empowered to keep breathing life into our reo. To be welcomed by Forás na Gaeilge, an institute that thrives to protect and support Te Reo & kaupapa Irish, was such a moment of harmony.

Te Waka Aumihi had outgrown our old space, and through the incredible mahi of one of our own, Claire, we were welcomed into this one. An honour our group doesn’t take for granted.

We were welcomed with a beautiful pōwhiri. Shane Ó hEidhin, Chairman of Forás na Gaeilge, was kaikōrero for the haukainga side. He spoke so warmly about his ties to New Zealand and his affinity with tangata whenua Māori and te reo Māori 🥹 A waiata tautoko followed, sung in Irish, and it was incredibly moving.

Our bro Daryl stood as kaikōrero for Te Waka Aumihi, carrying so much mana on our behalf that he lowkey had a few of us emotional! 🥹😭✊🏽

As we settle into this new whare, we’ve been encouraged to include te reo Irish in our learnings too. Committing to learn more of the reo of the whenua we live on feels like a beautiful next step in respecting this land and its people. Toitū te reo.

Serendipitous timing too 😅 9 years ago to the day, I walked into my first kapa practice with Ngāti Rānana in London. So proud of the whakapapa we’re building here in Dublin.

Kia kaha te reo Māori. Kia kaha te ao Māori. 🖤

Ngā mihi maioha agus le gach dea-ghuí, Forás na Gaeilge, for having us. 💚🤍🧡 taken in Foras na Gaeilge by @kimiholtz

E te tau ♥️

You’re a walking library in the very best way. I don’t think we’ve ever travelled anywhere without you teaching me something new about where we are. Every conversation somehow ends with me saying, “No way? How did you even know that?!”

Your curiosity is one of my favourite things about you. You have an incredible way of making history feel alive, of seeing beauty in the stories woven into old buildings, paintings, jewellery pieces and forgotten places. You’re endlessly curious, deeply thoughtful, and always searching for the next delicious meal to share.

But the thing I admire most is your kindness.

You have this quiet gift of making people feel as though they’ve always belonged. You call them darling heart, flash that charming smile, and before they know it, they’re absolutely besotted with you. You’re the one who notices the elderly person sitting alone. The one who tears up at quiet acts of humanity. The one who never stops caring.

He pou tōku manawa.

You’ve often reminded me of a maunga. Steady. Grounded. Unshakeable. There is something incredibly reassuring about your quiet confidence. It never demands attention, yet it gives everyone around you permission to settle more deeply into themselves. To take up space. To feel safe.

Everybody gets to know the Alyce they meet. The witty one. The capable one. The endlessly charming one. But I have the privilege of knowing the universe beneath all of that. The thoughtful, wonderfully complex cosmos that lives inside you. Every year I am lucky to discover another constellation, another little corner of you to love.

Thank you for choosing me. Thank you for building this beautiful little life with me.

Happy Birthday, e whaipō. Seven years in, and I still look at you with the same wonder I did all those years ago. by @kimiholtz

This Friday, Auric Vintage officially launched into the world, and I couldn’t be prouder of my darling girl. 🤍

I’ve had a front row seat to Alyce’s love affair with antique jewellery for years now.

The hours spent researching, collecting, learning, hunting for treasures and developing an eye that somehow spots magic where the rest of us (me...it’s me 🫣) can’t see anything but old stuff.... in a dusty cabinet. ✨

She’s been one of the best in the game for a long time.

So seeing her finally back herself and build something of her own?

It feels incredibly special. 🥹

Starting a business asks a lot of you. Courage. Vulnerability. Patience. Resilience.

It means putting a little piece of yourself out into the world and hoping others see the value in it too.

It’s scary, but it’s also such a beautiful thing to witness. 🌟

So here’s to Alyce and Darcey. 🥂

To big ideas, late nights, risk-taking, and creating something truly special together.

The website is stunning. The collection is unreal. And the knowledge behind the brand? Second to none.

I can’t wait to watch this grow. 💛

Congratulations, honey. You did it. 🎉

If you’re looking for one-of-a-kind antique and vintage jewellery, go and give them some love 🔗

They ship worldwide! And just know that every single order comes with three very happy girls doing little wiggle dances for at least a solid minute. 🕺✨

Lived out my country cowgirl dreams in Nashville: line dancing, Smokey Mountains, country tunes… and came home with two pairs of boots and a soft spot for southern hospitality 🤠 A few snaps from the dreamiest trip taken in Nashville, Tennessee by @kimiholtz

We also managed to squeeze in one very special trip to Exeter for the Women’s Rugby World Cup quarter-finals: Black Ferns vs South Africa! Such a beautiful moment in history to witness with Mum and Dad, and the energy was unreal. We even got to meet some incredible players, including the legend herself, Portia Woodman-Wickliffe 🖤

From Dublin to Croatia to Budapest, the whole month was full of laughter, adventure, and those grounding, everyday moments that mean everything. Feeling so lucky, so grateful, and already counting down until we’re all together again on the other side. by @kimiholtz

After Mum and Dad’s trip to Croatia, I met them in Budapest for a little city break before our last few days in Dublin. We ate incredible food, explored gothic architecture, wandered the riverbanks, and soaked up the history of this stunning city.

It was one of those trips that reminded me how lucky we are, to travel, to learn, to laugh together, and to share these moments as a whānau. Budapest was pure magic. by @kimiholtz

One week since Mum and Dad were here in Ireland with us, and I’m just reminiscing on what a blessing it was to share this time together.

Even though the travels were amazing, the parts I loved most were the quiet, everyday moments: cooking meals together, doing the groceries, chatting over coffee. When you live far from home, it’s those small, ordinary things that mean the most.

Showing them our little slice of Dublin was so special: from introducing them to our Te Waka Aumihi Kapa Haka whānau to the very serious Viking Splash Tour, and countless supermarket runs for Mum to marvel at the prices and produce. Dublin is our home away from home, and having them here made it feel even more so. by @kimiholtz
