Unpopular opinion: offering more treatments is probably why you aren’t earning more.

I had a conversation recently that I haven't really been able to stop thinking about.

An artist got in touch, she'd been in business for six years, good at what she does, but she wasn’t where she thought she’d be by now. She still wasn’t making that much money.

So I asked her what she offered.

And she listed about eight or nine different treatments.

There’s the problem!

When you offer that many things, nobody really knows what you stand for. You become someone who does a bit of everything, which makes you really easy to overlook.

Clients don't go looking for someone who does everything. They go looking for the person who does the one thing they need, and does it better than anyone else.

If you're sitting with that right now, I want you to know it's not a skill problem. It's a positioning problem. And that's actually the easier one to fix.

Choosing the right pigment is never one-size-fits-all.

In this video, I am breaking down a healed result from a client who came back 2.5 years after her first appointment.

She has oily skin, so I chose a stronger organic-based hybrid pigment from the beginning. The goal was not for the brows to stay dark forever — it was for them to heal softly, hold their structure and still look like real hair over time.

You can see that the strokes have stayed crisp, there is space between them and the pigment has softened beautifully. At her refresh, we simply extended the tapers to bring back a little more fluff.

Soft. Healed. Still believable.

This is what I love to see on mature skin.

This client has been coming to me for four to five years. Her last appointment was over 18 months ago, and this is how her brows have healed.

The goal was never a strong or overly defined brow. It was a soft warm blonde result that works with her skin, her hair and her face, without the grey cast that can sometimes appear over time.

At her refresh appointment, I only extended the tapers, added a little more softness through the front and gave the brows slightly more body. The middle had healed exactly as it should, so there was no need to overwork it.

For me, beautiful PMU is not about looking freshly done forever. It is about a result that fades softly, stays balanced and continues to look like it belongs to you.
