When my sons can’t sleep - them in their cribs and me wherever I am in the world, my bed down the hall or a hotel halfway around the world - I run through a meditation. I connect to them through an imaginary umbilical chord. I “send” them whatever comfort it is that they need, I imagine all of us still together, contained in my body. I calm my own breathing and slow my heartbeat, my own nervous system. Through their monitor I listen to them settle down, maybe stop singing the alphabet at the top of their lungs, fall back asleep. It very often works. It also calms me and we all go back to sleep. For 44 nights I extend the chord around the world and I try and connect to baby Kfir, to his brother Ariel, to try to give them what they need, a mothers comfort and calm, the sense that they aren’t alone and that I’m there and all of the mothers are there with them. #bringthemhome 💔💔 by @kimmyscotti
