Last weekend we arrived on the Gold Coast ahead of our first marathon 🤩 Deep in a carb load, sun was shining, nerves were building, and my race outfit still wasn’t finalised (classic me). Race morning = more carbs. 🥯 I was feeling good, loved listening to voice notes from family & friends along the course IYKYK, then, at 32km, it all unravelled. A trip to the medical tent, a DNF, and eventually the emergency department confirmed the worst… a tension-side femoral neck stress fracture. Before I knew it, I was having surgery. 3 nights in hospital, 4 extra days on the Gold Coast, definitely not the little getaway we’d planned. @nthnwllc absolutely smashed his marathon debut in 3:14! So incredibly proud 🥹 THEN somehow still had enough left in the tank to piggyback me out of the medical tent, not all heroes wear capes! A huge thank you to the team at Gold Coast University Hospital. Your kindness and care made one of the hardest weeks so much better. 🫶🏼 I’m heartbroken, but I’m not giving up. Setbacks are part of the journey, and while this chapter isn’t the one I wanted, I’m determined to come back better than ever. This time last week my hyrox races doubled….. Running Pro Dubs wasn’t on the 2025 bingo card, but had an absolute ball! @jaimenyberg loved running with you, you absolute weapon, so stoked to smash our open times in the pro division! 💪🏼 Backing that up with a Mixed Dubs on Sunday. Body was sore but so glad I (finally) got to run with @nthnwllc! 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼Considering we didn’t get to train as much as we would have liked or do a sim, super proud with our efforts and result on the day!
