A calm, strong presence deserves a quiet post…

Sit here with me and enjoy the soft charcoal edges and bright eye shines of this piece.

I absolutely love how this drawing turned out, and I can’t thank @sapphiresbythesea enough for being an amazing and willing model.

All of my works featured in the Art Loft portrait show are for sale. Contact me for inquiries.

Thanks for sitting with me and with my art. More to come soon 🧡

Spooky Suprise!! Speed Sketching is⚡️BACK⚡️for some Halloween fun this October. This will be the usual portrait drawing workshop but with a twist: It’s also a costume party! We will practice drawing portraits of each other, all while in costume. We will end up with some unique drawings, and the opportunity to include fun accessories and makeup in them. Spooky snacks will also be available at a small refreshments bar. 👻

‼️If you haven’t been to Speed Sketching before, read below for details‼️

HOW IT WORKS

Open to all ages and skill levels, you are invited to unleash your creativity and meet likeminded individuals! Grab some refreshments and find a seat. We will begin with some demonstrations and introductory exercises. After the warm up, participants will take turns drawing each other in time frames ranging from 5 minutes to 30 seconds. We will be switching partners and mingling a LOT! By the end of the session you will have drawn many different faces!

•MATERIALS WILL BE PROVIDED • :)

We will work with sheets of tan paper, soft willow charcoal, and permanent marker. Feel free to bring any other supplies for yourself!

Tickets are $18, and spots are limited! To reserve your seat scan the QR on this flyer or follow link in bio.

My goal is to encourage community interaction via quick live drawings (and to also squash your perfectionism!)

⏰ WHEN: October 27, 2026. 6pm-8pm

📍WHERE: 207 Church St NE, Decatur, AL 35601. Carnegie Visual Arts Center.

Parking is available along all streets in the neighborhood.

DM @kims.artcorner with any questions!

Everybody is welcome and I can’t wait to see you there!

The vendor life can be unexpected in all the ways sometimes!! Today was one of the good surprises :)

Oftentimes I have no idea what to expect from a market, but let me tell you this place was one of the most beautiful spots I’ve set up at before. I couldn’t help but make a cute video for this farm! I wish you could feel it in person because there was just something so moving about walking around the sunflowers during sunset, with the full harvest moon rising in the east. Days like this make it all worth it 🧡

My last art dump post for now! I recently watched the original Overboard film for the first time and the 80s glam is actually to die for 😍 I can’t help it but when I see someone with dramatic clothes or makeup, I gotta draw them. Just another reason why my 5 min portraits really keep me entertained. There’s so many fashionable people out there and I love it 🤩🤩 taken in Huntsville, Alabama by @kims.artcorner

“Overextend”
4 ft by 3 ft Charcoal drawing on paper

You may have noticed lately I don’t post much original art. A lot of my posts revolve around classes, markets and other events. While this is a big part of what I do as a small business and what I’m passionate about, sometimes I find myself yearning for more energy to pour into drawings and paintings. There’s a strange synergy that comes from doing what you love as the same thing that keeps the lights on. While all of these things (classes, markets, original art) inspire me and keep me going, they do eventually drain me. I often find myself overextending for the things I love in a sort of desperation, even if I know I’ll feel exhausted later. This is the double edged sword of the artist lifestyle. I’ll gladly take up the challenge.

I got a little tired of seeing my feed feel a bit corporate from all the event promotions, so this week I wanted to get back into posting my art permanently on my page. Thanks for reading and I hope you got to sneak a peek into what really goes into this whole artist thing! 🧡 taken in Huntsville, Alabama by @kims.artcorner

Tim Curry, you have a special place in many of our hearts. I was incredibly sad to hear about his passing, as his role in Rocky Horror Picture Show left such an impact on me after my first time seeing the film. After seeing a live screening for the first time about 4 years ago, I’ve gone to various theaters to see the film annually. Going with friends, dressing up, and feeling like I have a place to fully express myself opened up a new world for me. The community and pure art of expression is steeped through the whole experience that is RHPS, and Tim Curry was the cornerstone of it. RIP Tim Curry, may the artistry of your legacy live on and continue to inspire all creatives across the world. ❤️ taken in By LoudHaus by @kims.artcorner
