Best tavern style pizza for sure in the suburbs 🤯

Kim’s Uncle Pizza definitely does NOT miss. Located in Westmont - they ONLY make 125 pizzas per night!

One size pizza, feel free to order multiple toppings, and I promise you.. this place won’t disappoint.

They opened their doors here in 2022, but the way this pizza is done you’d think they would have been here for 50+ years!

If you’re in the area, you need to try it - but make sure to call ahead :)

In my post holiday haze, I felt like I would venture into the western burbs to treat myself to some of the best pizza in the country.

Some places don’t need hype but can't avoid it. Kim’s Uncle Pizza in Westmont is in that category. Tavern-cut, thin, crispy, and unapologetically Midwestern. The kind of pizza people argue about in group chats and plan their weekends around. The kind that disappears faster than you can say “one more square.” It’s not flashy. It’s not chasing trends. It’s just doing the thing the right way, night after night, in a little building glowing like a beacon for anyone who knows what they’re doing.
If you know, you know. If you don’t, fix that.

📍 Kim’s Uncle Pizza in Westmont, IL

Not in Chicago, but easily top 5 thin crust pizza in the entire metro area.

This spot is a must-visit for thin crust fan - crispy, charred, edge-to-edge coverage, cooked in a rare Fauld’s rotating oven (only 13 left from here to Milwaukee 👀). It’s old-school, tiny, and feels like eating in your grandparents’ basement and that’s part of the charm.

🔥 I got two:
🍕 Classic cheese: buttery crust, beautiful cheese pull, perfect bite
🌶️ Sausage, onion & JP Graziano giardiniera: bold, tangy, and just the right heat

Pro tips
📞 Call day-of at 3:30 PM to order (no pre-orders)
🍕 They open at 4 PM, oven fits 8 pies max, so you get a pickup time
🪑 Only two booths…most folks do takeout

This isn’t just great suburban pizza, it’s a pizza pilgrimage.
