Birthdays are better by the sea. 🌊✨

I loved celebrating my special day in the Los Cabos! — watching humpbacks breach against the turquoise blue of the sea, soaking up the sun as it thawed the Midwest freeze, and sharing every magical moment with my favorite guy.

Spent Friday wandering through Ernest Hemingway’s birth house in Oak Park on my artist date.

It was cool to see the rooms where Ernest Hemingway spent his earliest years—the Victorian parlor where his mother held musicales, the room where he was born in 1899.

The docent was so knowledgeable and shared stories about his mother’s ambitions, his father’s medical practice, the family dynamics that would echo through his work for decades.

I couldn’t help but think about how writers carry their beginnings with them, even when they’re trying to leave them behind.

If you’re local and haven’t been, it’s worth the visit. A quiet hour stepping into literary history, right here in our own backyard.

I woke up this morning feeling the weight of today in my stomach. I have missed you so over these last 11 years. I miss those sparking eyes I miss your frankness and insight. I miss your voracious.appetite for spaghetti and love of Michigan football. I miss the way you deeply love your family. Words will never be able to fully express how much I love you.
