I was trying some really fun stuff in this session. I had some prepared samples that I manipulated using @samplr , Joel @joltrebirth then improvised on top, I l then live sampled his soloing in to my modular sampler @makenoisemusic morphogene and beads. I absolutely loved playing with Marshall @musicresearchstrategies on drums, just following his rhythm on the spot, moving modulation around. All by feeling and intuition. black bird quartet.
voltage controlled computer. @whimsicalraps crow sending control voltage from @mutableinstruments marbles in to @c74connect max for live patches to sequence @madronalabs kaivo. harp sounds from kaivo then sampled in to w/. crow also controlling just friends turning it in to a six voice polyphonic synthesizer. crow also sending an lfo to modulate three sisters filter and sending clock out of @ableton clocking marbles. @weareelektron octatrack playing acoustic bass and drum samples along with applying effects to kaivo and the modular synthesizer. a little bird ( a crow clearly ) may have told me that the bass sample came from a mccoy tyner record and that perhaps the drums came from an ed blackwell record. I trust that what the crow said is true. i pictured making a spiritual jazz song with my sampler and synthesizer. a quartet with a drum and bass sample where my mangrove would be the wind instrument and kaivo would play the harp. big shout out to @jailaibookie for the amazing max for live patches. .

Heavy Arts Ensemble is a collective of Bay Area musicians and media artists. Through a collage of extended melodic improvisation, live sampling, modular synthesis, live visuals, the outer edges of experimental beat culture, avant-garde jazz, drone and radical software, Heavy Arts Ensemble seeks to push deep grooves into trance-inducing states.

The collective features a rotating lineup alongside core members
