Tulsa’s only Black bookstore closed. Kayla opened one. 📚

She didn’t wait for a storefront or a loan. Kinara runs as a pop-up; which meant she could fill the gap immediately instead of eventually.

It centers Black, brown, queer and disabled readers, and it just hit its first year.

We talk a lot on this show about going against the grain as a phrase people say about themselves. This is what it looks like when somebody just does it and doesn’t announce it.

Full episode out now. Follow and support @kinara.books 🎓

Our one year anniversary celebration continues in collaboration with @shauna.robs this Saturday, October 17th! 🎉

In her latest release, Lauryn Harper Falls Apart, we meet a high achieving woman whose work goals backfire in a major way. We get a story of friendship, second chances, and derailed plans all while helping a small town get their apple festival off the ground.

IT’S HERE 🎉

Every Kinara Tee builds our first home. 🧱

Right now Kinara lives at pop-ups and online.
With your help, it becomes rows and rows of shelves, comfy seating, and a welcoming front door to a community space centering stories by marginalized authors. 📚

Every $28 tee puts a book on those shelves. And our goal is 2,500 tees by October 27.

Comment SHIRT and we’ll DM you the link. 👇🏾
