FOOD4THOUGHT 🍲 A while back with @rice_fsa & @anakbayanhouston. Courtesy of the @ricedining staff, we cooked up a classic sinigang baboy and a lovely ube cake together - but the real nourishment was the conversation shared at the table. We talked about the ongoing fight in the US and Philippines against corruption, inequality, and violence, and what it means to push back against injustice.

At the heart of it all is love - love for our community, love for our culture, and love strong enough to demand better for our people. We recognized the sacrifice behind that fight and take pride in revolution as part of our cultural legacy as Filipino Americans. People Power lives on in every young person who chooses to become an engaged citizen and stand for truth, justice, and accountability. 🇵🇭🇺🇸❤️‍🔥 taken in Houston, Texas by @kinawboyhtx

Salamat kaayo y’all! Thank you! My heart is soo full from the the love and support you showed for @kinawboyhtx’s first kamayan and for @anakbayanhouston’s Land Is Life campaign.

I was so nervous, but more than that I was so excited!! Thank you to the Kawboys who helped make it all happen! As always, it is such an honor to share Filipino food with old friends and new ones. 🫶

Really what made it even more special was being in community. In between handfuls of bbq, fried fish and pancit, and bites of ube tres leches, there was that feeling of celebrating our precolonial kamayan traditions, learning about our culture, our history, and our present together.

sometimes you just have to start off the year by joining a gumbo cook-off at your neighborhood bar to try something completely new. no prize won, but had lots of fun and made me happy to see everyone who came out to support me, and watch happy strangers happily eating my food. not bad for someone who’s youtube search history looked like the last slide for the past few weeks. @kinawboy_ 4ever 🤠 (shot by @gageyy.wageyy) by @kinawboyhtx
