We are thrilled to announced our participation in the Emergence sector at Art Basel Paris with a solo presentation of new work by Angharad Williams at booth M16.

Art Basel Paris takes place October 21-25, 2026 at the Grand Palais.

Under the title, nature is nature is nature but also so much more depending on your perspective, the presentation brings together large-scale paintings that depict schools of trout alongside a new video in which the viewer is cast as Williams’ narrator.

Angharad Williams (b. Ynys Cybi, Wales) is an artist, writer, and performer who is concerned with the role of poetry in our increasingly militarised society. Recent solo exhibitions and performances took place at: Reena Spaulings Fine Art, New York (2026); Institut Français, Berlin (2026); Mies van der Rohe Haus, Berlin (2026); KIN, Brussels (2025); Haus am Waldsee, Berlin (2025); Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, Turin (2025), SIMIAN, Copenhagen (2025); Schiefe Zähne, Berlin (2024); Fanta, Milan (2023); Kunstverein Düsseldorf, Düsseldorf (2022); Mostyn, Llandudno (2022) and Kevin Space, Vienna (2021). Angharad’s first book Eraser was published by After8 Books, Paris in 2023 and the artist released a limited 12” vinyl with Concentric Group, London & the Bauhaus Foundation, Dessau in 2026.

An excerpt from Richard Milazzo’s “Caravaggio on the Beach: Essays on Art in the 1990’s” —

“With regard to Frère, we have a painting of a landscape whose actual trajectory is the ‘landscape’ or the limits of painting. It is a painting that seems to push and then collapse the boundaries of figure and ground into each other to such an extent that they seem to become one, undifferentiated and whole - a voluptuous miasma of primal form and desire. Instead of exploiting the self-reflexive formal and historical strategies of abstraction — which continue to convert the gesture and marks of abstract painting into the outward signs of culture — Frère endeavors to expand the inner world of painting by restoring its relation to Nature.”

The exhibition is on view until Saturday, November 14, 2026.

KIN is excited to participate in the inaugural edition of the @astoria_artshow with @magdalenafrauenberg

Initiated by gallerists, the Astoria Artshow was founded by VAU - Vienna Art United, an association of 35 Viennese galleries joining forces to create a new, independent art fair for Vienna.

Astoria Artshow takes places from 10 to 13 September 2026, 12 to 7 pm in the Astoria Garage, Europe’s oldest multi-storey parking garage, crowned by its iconic glass dome.

Michel Frère is a Belgian painter who had a meteoric career of 15 years that began in the mid-1980s and ended with his premature death at age 38 in 1999. At the outset he produced figurative works emblematic of the 1980s in Europe and the US. Soon he started to explore the material potential of painting by layering oil paint into animated sedimentation that combined seduction and abjection. He chose to frame them behind glass, creating a distance between the viewer and the work while integrating the viewer’s gaze and what surrounds it through reflection. He was widely exhibited by major galleries in Europe and the US where he spent the last part of his short life. He was free, both rebellious and loyal, addicted to risk-taking and entirely dedicated to pushing painting into unexplored territories.

The exhibition at KIN gathers together four emblematic large-scale paintings, a sculpture and a number of smaller works and archival material to better understand not only Frère’s work but also the time period that his work and life embody. It is a first attempt to open a new reading of his work, not only based on its formal uniqueness, but on the questions it carries, from informal art to queer culture.

Opening 10th September at KIN, an exhibition on the work of the late Belgian painter, Michel Frère. Frère had a meteoric career of 15 years starting in the mid-1980s, that ended with his premature death at age 38 in 1999. The exhibition at KIN brings together emblematic large-scale paintings, along with a sculpture, a number of smaller works, and archival material from his studio, offering a fuller sense of both Frère’s practice and the period his work and life embody. The exhibition is a first attempt at a new reading of that work, based not only on its formal singularity but on the questions it carries, from informal art to queer culture. @kinbrussels

This is the final weekend of @koelnischerkunstverein show Eine Stadt Als Atelier closing on Sunday, July 19th.

The exhibition features several of our artists — Michael Van den Abeele, Shaun Motsi & Angharad Williams amongst others featured in our kinship II exhibition: Danai Anesiadou, Aglaia Konrad and Hana Miletić.

“Brussels is not a city of seamless processes. It is precisely through its imperfections, improvisations and prosthetic fixes that the city unfolds its singular, almost deranged energy. Alongside its dysfunctionality, the pervasive appropriation and reinterpretation of histories, spaces and objects shape the urban fabric. In Brussels, the permeability between urban life and artistic practice is unusually direct. What is encountered on the street finds its way into the work. Even the name Brussels, derived from Old Dutch and meaning “home in the swamp”, points to a soft, fermenting substratum from which new forms continually emerge.

Anyone living in Brussels is confronted with bricolage: car bodies wrapped in adhesive tape, buildings secured by makeshift means, peculiar shop windows. The makeshift leaves scars upon the urban body, which in turn generate their own form of permanence. Ad hoc structures establish themselves wherever responsibilities begin to fray: Brussels consists of nineteen municipalities, just as many mayors, a web of regional and national competences, historical lines of conflict, and monarchical representation. Set against the city’s fragile structural cohesion are the heavyweight presences of the EU and NATO. Since the 1950s, the European Quarter has undergone the kind of urban redevelopment for which the term “Brusselisation” was coined. The word now appears wherever history disappears under the pressure of new forms of expediency.”
