Poetry, the art form that revived my tongue.

Contrary to popular belief, I find it really hard to speak to people. My words tend to fall out slurred and tangled. I fear I never come across as clearly as I intend to. I talk too fast as I'm afraid of losing interest if I drag out conversations. Then I'm too slow to keep up with where the discussion goes.

However, the moment I begin a poem everything changes. Every thing is clear in complex metaphors and it all makes sense. The rhythm creates a steady pace where every word that falls from in-between the gap in my teeth makes sense. The conversation no longer escapes me as I control the speed that it flows. Everything makes sense. Suddenly it's not so difficult to speak anymore.

Thank you @roundhouseldn and the entire team for making this the most wonderful experience. I am so honoured to have placed third. Congratulations to all the poets, especially @tiazakura and @takunda101 who join me on the podium in 2nd and 1st place.

To be frank, 2025 has been one of the best years of my life.

It has been the most insane experience. In July of 2024, I wrote my first rap song, in December 2024, I played my first gig as "Kynda" alongside one of the most incredible producers/djs I know @theosteventon . Since then, the blessings haven't stopped. I've played my first headline show, made my festival debut and made my Royal Albert Hall debut. All within the span of a year? All these ideas were faraway dreams when the year started and the fact that I've been able to do it in such rapid succession has been the most breathtaking experience ever.

None of this would be possible without the support and incredible talent I have around me. Thank you to my band, @bluejay_live , @soundloungecic , @drmartensfoundation , SXSW London team. Thank you to anyone who came to my gigs, took photos/videos or even mentioned it in conversation. I am eternally grateful to all of you.

This is about the time I saw a woman on the bus crying hysterically and ignored her because I thought she looked crazy. Month later I was crying on TFL because I found out my Godmother passed away after fighting cancer. Now I wonder what would've happened if I spoke to her and listened to her worries. I wish someone had listened to mine.
