I care about my work, and I care about being there for my family too.

For me, that means protecting the end of my workday so I can get to school pickup without feeling like I have to choose between being committed at work and being present at home.

A boundary does not mean you care less about your job. Sometimes it just means you have decided what gets your time when the workday is over.

I used to think doing something I enjoyed meant I needed to actually find the time for it.

And…what time? 😂

So now I look for little ways to layer joy into things I already have to do.

Dinner still has to get made. The kids are still in the living room doing their thing. But I can put my headphones on, catch up on a YouTube video, and make that part of the evening a little more enjoyable for me too.

Nothing complicated. No new routine to maintain. No extra time needed.

Just one tiny way I make everyday life feel a little lighter.

I was trying to get a video of him drinking from his open cup because he’s been doing so good with it lately.

Meanwhile, he breaks off a piece of his waffle to share with his brother, and then I hear Greyson say, “That's my little angel.”

That little exchange got me. I wasn’t even trying to capture a moment like this, but I’m so glad I did.

Handle what actually needs your attention today. Write down where you stopped, and let Tuesday clock in and do her part tomorrow.

Soccer wasn’t his thing this year, and that’s okay.

What he does have is plenty of six-year-old energy and a very serious belief that he is a real ninja. So when we found a six-week Ninja Warrior class at our local @ymca, we knew we had to surprise him.

Sometimes our kids just need the chance to discover what feels like them.

He turned 39 today, and when I asked what he wanted for his birthday, this man said cabbage and sausage. 😂

That was it.

So naturally, I went to grab everything for one of his favorite meals… but I couldn’t just leave it there.

A little birthday setup, one very strategically placed Woody, popcorn, Toy Story 5, and dinner waiting for him when he got home. ❤️

Nothing over the top. Just the things he actually likes, put together with a little extra love.

I’ve been thinking a lot about what creating content has become for me.

Yes, I love it. But it’s also become part of how I’m trying to create more breathing room for my family.

I have a good career. I’m grateful for it. And I also know what it feels like to look at bills and start calculating which one absolutely has to be paid today and which one gives you a few extra days.

I want more freedom than that for my family.

More room for unexpected expenses. More room for experiences. More room to say yes without immediately wondering what has to move around to make it happen.

That’s part of why I create. And it’s part of why I care so much about telling the truth about working motherhood too.

Every follow, like, comment, share and repost helps this little community grow and creates opportunities for my family that would not be possible without your support.

Saturday was one for the books!

We spent the day at Tricks & Treats at @kingsdominionva , and between the candy, rides, pumpkin decorating, games and everything happening in Planet Snoopy, the boys had themselves a TIME.

And somehow we left with not one, but TWO costume contest winners. The winners were chosen by crowd applause, and hearing everybody cheer for Greyson and Kingston was definitely one of my favorite moments of the day.

Some nights I’m making the whole dinner. Other nights, mama needs to throw everything in the Instant Pot and walk away. 😂

I’m learning that making life easier where I can does not mean I’m doing less. Sometimes it just means I’m not making everything harder than it needs to be.

Tonight, that looked like a one-pot meal and a little less pressure on myself.
