Meet BiJon Newsom. 💜✂️

Hair care is self care…and nobody knows that better than BiJon.

BiJon is a Columbus native, commercial salon owner, licensed loctician, and natural hair educator whose passion for helping young people love the hair they were born with has been building for years. She is the proud owner of Envision Suites — a 7,500 square foot commercial salon in Columbus housing licensed beauty professionals — and JonnyStyles Locs, where she not only performs skilled loc services but has also created her own natural hair care line that has been featured at the Ohio Black Expo, Columbus African Festival, Central State Homecoming Vendor Fair, and Columbus Small Business Expo.

But what makes BiJon extra special for KINDkamp is this... for the last three years, she has been partnering with the Columbus Metropolitan Library to host Natural Hair Performances for youth ages 6–17. In those sessions, young people learn the fundamentals of hair and texture, explore the history of locs, and get hands-on time with mannequins practicing styling techniques and building real self-care skills.

She has literally been doing this work, for girls just like ours, for years.

This summer, BiJon is bringing all of that knowledge, love, and expertise straight to KINDkamp. Our girls are not just going to learn how to care for their hair. They are going to learn that their crown is worth caring for. 💜

One of the most powerful things we do at KINDkamp is help our girls feel surrounded. Surrounded by women who prayed over them before they even walked in the door. Surrounded by sisters who are cheering for them.

Meet Zori Parker. 💜💰

Finance professional. Business owner. Community advocate. Mentor. And the woman who is about to change the way 100 KINDkamp girls think about money forever.

Zori is the founder of Life Park Accounts LLC, a bookkeeping and financial services firm dedicated to helping individuals and small businesses build real financial clarity. She holds a degree in Finance and Accounting from Wittenberg University and has built a career rooted in accounting, financial reporting, and making money concepts accessible to real people in the real world.

But what makes Zori truly special is her WHY.

Her passion for financial education was sparked by a mentor who invested in HER early, someone who taught her that money is not just about numbers, it is about freedom, confidence, and the ability to build a future on your own terms. Now she is that mentor for the next generation.

Beyond her business, Zori mentors young women through the Gaddis Foundation, teaches financial literacy through churches and community organizations, and serves as a Trustee in Training at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. She knows how to make money concepts engaging, practical, and age-appropriate, and our girls are going to feel every bit of that.

A girl who understands money is a girl no one can take advantage of. Zori knows that. And this summer, she is making sure our girls know it too. 💜

Meet Nadia. 🎨💜
She is a certified chef AND a commission artist and she is bringing BOTH of those gifts to KINDkamp 2026.

Nadia is a creative force from Cleveland, Ohio who works across mediums that most of us have never even thought to combine…from buttercream to canvas to drywall to glass. She believes that creativity has no limits, and she is about to prove it to our girls.

In her Art breakout session, our girls will be getting their hands into something beautiful. Nadia will be leading them through the world of acrylic fluid art using binders, enhancers, and different brush techniques to create pieces that are uniquely and entirely their own.

No experience needed. No wrong answers. Just excited girls being given permission to create freely, boldly, and without apology. 🎨

Because at KINDkamp, we believe creativity is not a hobby…it is a superpower. And Nadia is here to remind every girl in that room that she has it.

We cannot wait for you to meet her. 💜

This is one of the very first things we tell our KINDkamp girls, and it’s one of the hardest to believe. But it’s the most important truth you’ll ever accept.

✨ How to live it out:
→ Notice when you’re comparing yourself to someone else — then stop and come back to yourself
→ Unfollow any account that makes you feel like less
→ Write yourself a note and put it somewhere you’ll see it: “I am enough today”

You don’t need to be more. You just need to be you. 💜

Meet Mr. Dave. 💜

For the 4th year in a row, David Osborne Sr. is coming back to KINDkamp and our girls are in the best hands in the city.

Mr. Dave has been studying and teaching martial arts since 1973. That’s over 50 years of discipline, mastery, and dedication to one thing: helping people protect themselves with confidence and integrity. He holds the distinguished rank of 6th Level Senior Bando Master in the Burmese Thaing Bando system, one of the most respected traditional martial arts disciplines in the world.

But his resume doesn’t stop there. Mr. Dave is also a retired Cincinnati Police Officer with nearly 30 years of law enforcement experience, and today he teaches martial arts to K–8th grade students right here in Columbus, and at YMCA locations across the city.

When Mr. Dave walks into a room, he doesn’t just teach girls how to defend themselves physically. He teaches them awareness. Confidence. Discipline. And the belief that they have every right to stand their ground.

This is his 4th year with KINDkamp. And we are so grateful he keeps coming back for our girls. 💜
