Today, we are featuring the brilliance of Sophie Ortiz and Tanja London in Sublimation (2022) at David Ruth Glass Sculpture Studio.

Sublimation explores the transitory nature of modern time and technology. It asks the centuries old question of how technology impacts humans, but under the light of AI, which is advancing unimaginably quickly, as Moore’s law predicts. Its exponential growth of doubling every two years is certain to bring unimaginable transformations.

Join us at the Open Lab this Wednesday at ODC Dance Commons.

Last week, we did several fun explorations - Agapi’s interactive sound and song poetry, Hannah’s dance that can only be seen with finger tips and Jessy’s stop motion partnering.

Agapi and Wei will work on her setup before the lab. And we will be continuing more explorations.

We have an ocean drum that, as the name suggests, simulates the sound of the ocean. Any musician or sound artist interested in exploring it in the lab? No need to register. Just show up! by @kinetecharts

Kinetech Arts selected 20 movement artists, makers, and engineers to participate at the Summer Solstice Gathering, intimate evenings of experimental works-in-progress.

Each selected artist will share a 5 minute work in progress in a supportive, low-pressure environment designed for testing ideas and connecting with the community.

June 19th 7-9pm
June 24th - 8-9pm

⏰7:45–8:00 PM — Collaborative brainstorming for a movement improvisation practice. Participants are invited to contribute ideas incorporating poetry, music, dance, technology, and more.
⏰8:00–9:00 PM — Improvisation sessions. Play, explore, and create together!
