Wild chapter in my life
1st to 5th, dipped, came back in 7th
Christian Sanchez was my dawg. Same name, same initials ,same seatin chart every year cuz of the alphabetical order thing. 6th grade when I left the first time Detroit start gettin spooky. Bro slid deeper into his neigbrhood & what came wit it .By 7th when I came back we both was buggin out I made a dumb choice brought somethin I aint have business with to school . Got expelled (idiot) whole time moms just wanted for me to pick up Spanish I ain’t appreciate what she was tryin to do 🙄 like I actually said “ I don’t wanna learn Spanish” (idiot x2).

Mama fought to get me back in but had to agree for me to go on a field trip with all the “troubled students” to one of the prisons in Detroit lowkey I think the prison is shut down now anyway we went and talked to some of the inmates about prison life bla bla bla on my soul I just remember it smellin stupid musty & like old cheese 🤢. Not long after pops said Vegas was the move for a reset ,he felt we just needed it . Sanchez told me my last day “You gotta call me way , tell me what the West Coast is like.” Wrote his house number (yall remember usin house phones ?) on a paper. I lost it in the move , never got to call bro. Year later he got shot in the head , 13 life just done. It was always odd cuz it was the first person to die that I had a closer friendship with like not a grandparent or somebody mad older. Aint really a way to prepare for the first time death grabs somebody yo age. It hit different. All deez years later standin right where we had 1 of our last convos, building still the same just ain’t seem as big as it did when we was kids. Was dope & sad at the same time , bein in Ireland 4 the time bein seein a diff way of life diff culture actually has been a blessin cuz it made me appreciate stuff I woulda took for granted in America when I was younger. taken in Detroit, Michigan by @king_chrissoo
