Once again I’m the luckiest and the happiest. After 25 years, I landed in Stillwater, Oklahoma today and teared up when the wheels hit the familiar red earth.

I graduated from Oklahoma State University in 2000, and tomorrow I have been invited to give a talk to journalism and communications students at the College of Arts and Sciences as part of the Patti and Ken Moyes Speaker Series.

I spent the afternoon wandering the campus, walking past my old dorms, and eating dinner at Eskimo Joe’s, the classic local haunt.

I’m currently 1:50 from my home town of Bartlesville, where my family landed from Warsaw, Poland in 1981.

Happy World Oceans Week! Probably my favorite BTS snap from our @sharkweek 2022 shoot. This is the face of a 13 foot tiger shark coming to see what I’m doing. She’s curious. When I show this to shark people they think it’s marvelous. When I show it to non shark people they think it’s terrifying. The difference? Experience with sharks, understanding their behavior, assessing the environment, personal comfort zone…when a plate sized huntsman spider visited our bungalow in Nicaragua I couldn’t go in the bathroom without my knees buckling, but I’m totally fine redirecting a curious tiger shark 🤷🏻‍♀️. That's a wrap on Caribbean Mexico. What a lovely week of turquoise water, sunsets, supporting baby sea turtles with a sustainability team which I am thrilled exists, and floating until my fingers were prunes. Not to mention tacos for days. by @kingaphilipps

The legend of the deepest shark attack in history( @deepestsharkattack ) is perhaps one of the most extraordinary adventure stories ever told. It's a tale of extreme survival, devastating tragedy, and breathtaking heroics. But behind closed doors, there have always been whispers that something didn't add up.
Few have ever looked closely at the evidence. Until Now.

Journalist and Shark Week host Kinga Philipps and St. Croix resident and diver Cindy Clearwater go on location and beneath the waves to investigate what really happened at Cane Bay in 1972. They track down island locals, dive experts, and one of the country’s top shark scientists. What they find will be a deep dive into human nature under pressure, science, apex predators, and a few bombshells.

A 3,000-foot drop-off. Two sharks. No body. One witness. An incredible story.

For more than half a century, the legend of the deepest shark attack in history has been told as fact.

An extraordinary tale of extreme survival, devastating tragedy, and almost unimaginable heroics: three divers. Two oceanic whitetip sharks. A terrifying encounter over one of the deepest drop-offs in the Caribbean.

The account has been repeated in books, magazines, documentaries, and throughout the diving and shark world..

But on St Croix, there have always been whispers… that something about the story didn’t add up.

Few people have ever gone back and seriously examined the evidence.

Until now.

Join journalist and Shark Week host @kingaphilipps and St. Croix resident and diver Cindy Clearwater @mystcroix as they return to Cane Bay… on land and beneath the waves… to investigate what really happened there in 1972.

We track down locals who were on the island at the time, examine accounts that have gone largely unquestioned for decades, consult dive experts and one of the country’s leading shark scientists, and follow the story wherever the evidence takes us.

What emerges is a deep dive into human nature, ambition, science, apex predators…and a few bombshells.

toilets

flip flops
buckets
beds

constipation
