Come see Gabriela Silva Myers-Lipton, Alex Ehmer, Chloe King’s work at Heavy Batter: a show on absurdity.

Gabriela Silva Myers-Lipton’s @silvatooth practice explores systems of energy/power transmission that organize contemporary life. In “DeepFried/DeepState”, American politics becomes a complex network of domination and submission, where power is circumvented to be continually won, lost, and publicly consumed. Her works are created with acrylic paint, glitter, and ink on paper. Simultaneously corporeal and digital, sacred and synthetic.

Chloe King @kinggtingg is an interdisciplinary artist working across painting, photography, and installation. King’s work explores queer social life, Black futurity, and speculative world-building through emotionally charged images of pleasure, transformation, and embodiment.

Alex Ehmer @alexehma (b. 1996, San Francisco, CA) is a mixed-media artist based in San Francisco whose practice investigates transformation, bodily vulnerability, and the unstable boundaries between care and
damage. Rooted in psychological, medical, and sociological frameworks, Ehmer uses sculpture and time-based processes to examine how bodies, objects, and systems are shaped through acts of preservation,
control, deterioration, and repair. by @kinggtingg

Forest for the Trees and @FWC26Seattle are teaming up to welcome the world, celebrate soccer, and showcase artists this summer!

@kinggtingg is an interdisciplinary artist working across painting, photography, and installation. Their practice explores Black queer futurity, nightlife cultures, and speculative world-building through images that examine pleasure, identity, and transformation. King holds a B.F.A. from Cornish College of the Arts and both an M.F.A. in Studio Art and an M.A. in Visual and Critical Studies from California College of the Arts. Their work has been exhibited at the Frye Museum, Wa Na Wari, ICA San Francisco, and SOMArts.

“I grew up playing soccer in early-2000s Vancouver, Washington, so when I think about the sport I think about sore legs, fresh-cut grass, Arizona Iced Teas, and playing with my Tamagotchi between games.

For this mural, I wanted to capture something of that feeling—the crunch of a PS2 sports game mixed with the joy of laying in the grass after a match and watching the clouds drift by.

Tori’s Entity, named after my sister, reflects on those awkward middle-school years: gender neutrality, growth, feeling strong, and channeling a little bit of Sporty Spice energy. It’s a love letter to that strange in-between moment when childhood starts giving way to who you might become.”
