today marks one year without you, my first year without hearing your voice, my first year without your constant encouragement and support, my first year without leaving my phone alone for an hour and seeing 3 missed texts, my first year without hearing a terrible joke and to put more simply, my first year without my dad.
every day since somehow gets easier whilst also getting harder. grief is such a strange and foggy path and every step forward feels like riding a bike with without handlebars. every day I try my best to remember the words and values you instilled in me and fight to keep those memories as vibrant and alive. I try to walk with the same bravado and swagger you carried everytime you left the house and I find myself becoming more like you in ways I could never have imagined, anything just to feel closer to you. every flickering light switch, everytime the sun breaks through the clouds and anytime something nice happens in my life without a good explanation, has now become a confirmation that you’re still walking alongside me in this life and keeping me safe.
you never failed to tell me how proud you were of everything I ever did and I promise to keep spending every day of my life making you proud of not only the man that I am, but the man that I am becoming.
thank you for everything dad, I miss you like the flowers miss the sun and I will continue to love you as long as I am alive, even if I’m unable to show it anymore. rest easy old man xx by @kingkhanmusic

tomorrow marks 31 years of me existing on planet earth :)

this last year has been probably one of my most pivotal yet, many up’s but just as many downs. the up’s were really up. the downs were really fucking down. but alas I have entered my third decade with a strength of character that 20 something Khalid could have only dreamed of. I’d like to thank all my incredible friends and family for everything as I could not have done this one on my own. I would take multiple bullets for each and every one of u (I hope I don’t have to tho)

dad, you may not be here to see it but I have my FIRST GREY HAIR!!! u deciding to hop on the rainbow road might have had something to do with that but I forgive you and miss you very very much xxx

feels a bit cringe to be this open on the timeline, but i think i actually want people to start seeing the journey instead of just the music now :) just have to fight through embarrassment of publicly being myself

Release from @kingkhanmusic that I put drums on!

This isn’t the drum recording on the actual track as they were recorded in my last space. Word is everything got pitched and sped up after too. You’ll have to go stream it to hear them 💀

((I do seem to have over cooked something on the cymbals in this mix tho oopsy))

thank you so much to each and everyone of you who has listened to the album, checked out the music video or supported me in any way these last few weeks❤️ it’s been a difficult journey in getting myself back to a place where I felt ready to put myself out there again but the reception I’ve had has reminded why I love doing this in the first place. I owe it to each and everyone of u!
