I've poured my heart into this project for nearly a decade, and I use this platform to showcase it. The essence of Light Baths is all about fostering safe spaces where people can feel strong and confident in their bodies.

All the art you see here is created in-camera, using practical effects and showing what was actually captured during the moment of creation.

Unfortunately, I've encountered obstacles on this platform, hindering my ability to share, connect, and sustain myself through my art. This platform frequently punishes me by hiding my creations, flagging my work, and threatening to remove my account. It makes expanding this project and reaching an audience who would enjoy Light Baths incredibly difficult.

If Light Baths resonates with you, please consider supporting me by:
✨sharing this video or anything from my page with friends, saving posts, and/or commenting on them,
✨Inviting me as a collaborator when you post your portraits,
✨Subscribe to the Light Bath’s Patre0n,
✨Turn on Instagram post notifications (go to my page and click the bell).

Your support means the world to me, and it helps me continue creating and sharing this project. by @kingmallard

⚡Hey friends!⚡

Excited to unveil some new work featuring the marvelous @carmiinaballesteros, a contemporary ballet dancer and model based in NY! ✨🌈

Enjoy a Light Bath loop from our recent session earlier this week. I'm all caught up on the photos from my installations this year and have so many lovely things to share and update y'all on. =]

If you've reached out to create with me, expect a response this weekend. I'll also be sharing new work here and on my site/Patreon that unfortunately can't be shared on this platform. Links in bio. 🫶

If you're interested in working with me this year, now's the perfect time to reach out. 🖤🖤

Hey all! Here's a throwback to a shoot I did with the fabulous @bethenyflows in FL a few months ago. 🌼🌈☀️ I'm thinking I might make a trip down to south Florida the end of this month. Who would want a Light Bath session while I'm there? 😊🌼✨

Happy Halloween! Not in costume, but playing dress-up. More from October 2023 with @kingmallard. BtS shots by Midtown Meow/The Movement Garden. by @kingmallard

THE DEVIL WAS NEVER THE ENEMY OF LOVE. 🔥

They gave me horns and called me wicked. They took my wings and called me fallen. They taught the world to fear my body, my sexuality, my freedom. But what if the fall from Heaven was never a punishment? What if it was a choice? To leave eternity behind. To know the warmth of another body. To experience longing, pleasure, and the beautiful agony of being human.

Somewhere between the sacred and the profane, between the crucifix and the flesh, Heaven and Hell met in an embrace.

Happy Halloween, from the Devil herself. 😈🔥🖤

Last month I debuted a new version of Light Baths, the Light Bath Portal, at @illumination.nyc ✨

Individuals and small groups stepped into what would normally be my portrait booth, but instead of me guiding them through a session, it was self-guided. They saw themselves covered in projections, and then saw themselves projected larger than life, 30 feet high on the side of a building in Wagner Park.

My project is all about transforming bodies and spaces with projected light, and giving people space to feel confident and appreciate themselves. For a decade I've been creating what I call an armor of artwork, and evolving the practice so more and more people get to experience it. The final product of a lot of my work is photos and videos, but I see those as artifacts of the process. The artwork itself is the experience people have.

I'm still pushing and exploring what I can do with this, and I'm so excited to dive further into the Portal. Can't wait to bring it to more events and installations 🌈

Three dancers in a Light Bath, wrapped in bands of projected light.

This footage is for a projection installation where these moving bodies get projected onto massive walls so they loom larger than life. All created in camera, no post effects, just bodies, movement, and light.

Three years ago this week at The Movement Garden in Beacon, NY ✨ Lydia moving through a Light Bath, all effects achieved in camera.

Light Baths is a project where I use projectors and patterns that I create to give people an armor of artwork on their skin.
