Introducing our team member and Film Programmer, ro chanchall! @savageandroid
We are so fortunate to be working alongside you!

Born in Guyana and remixed by Queens, ro chanchall (they/them) is an experimental filmmaker, writer, and seeker whose artistic and spiritual practices are one. ro just wants to see clearly. They studied physics and anthropology at MIT and hold a degree in Film & Electronic Arts from Bard College. As alchemist|experimentalist and witch|theorist, ro fuses these methodologies into a rigorous tantric discipline. They experiment by filming in the dark to push the camera’s colonial gaze to its breaking point. Within the fertile abyss, ro transmutes the amnesia of coolie indenture—locating history not in the archive but in the body as an ongoing record, song immemorial.

And that’s a wrap on City of Forest Day 2026 and it was the biggest one to date!

@nycmayor Zohran Mamdani officially proclaimed October 3, 2026 as City of Forest Day: “City of Forest Day raises awareness of the importance of our urban forest and the essential role New Yorkers play every day in caring for the quality of our air and environment…Together, we will continue to usher in an ambitious new era for our great city and forge a greener, healthier, and more equitable and sustainable future for all.” We are grateful to the Mayor for this recognition and are eager to work together to realize this vision!

Thank you to @nyclimate Deputy Executive Director for Climate and Environmental Justice Paul O. Lozito for presenting this Proclamation at an event celebrating the hard work of Forest for All NYC members, @nycparks, Parks and Open Space Partners, and thousands of volunteers to make City of Forest Day a success.

We thank the 120+ different organizations who organized over 150 events across the city, and to the thousands of volunteers of all ages who came out to take care of the NYC urban forest. Trees help make NYC healthier, more climate resilient, and affordable.

We can’t wait to see you all next October for what will be the sixth annual City of Forest Day! Until then, remember that you can check out our coalition member list (link in bio) for organizations near you so that you can help care for trees year-round.

Artist Talk at the closing of Art of Anthropocene for Environmental Justice at King Manor Museum.

On Saturday we had an enlightening talk amongst the participating visual artists to discuss the meaning of our artwork and its meaning towards environmental justice.

It was a delightful afternoon hearing the meaning behind all of the beautiful works that were on display. I’m very grateful to have taken part in this wonderful exhibition.

Thank you very much to @bestwanda @kingmanormuseum

‼️ UPDATE: Zine Launch with Melting Metropolis 🌳📖

Due to Saturday’s inclement weather, the zine launch at King Manor Museum is being postponed to Saturday, October 3rd, from 12pm–2pm.

We’re excited to gather with you then—and the new date also coincides with City of Forest Day, a city-wide celebration of urban tree cover!🌿 We will be partnering with the Big Reuse for a Street Tree Care event — separate registration for the Street Tree Care event is required. Head over to the link in our bio for more information!

♻️ Your previous RSVP for our Zine launch will automatically transfer to the new date, so you don't have to worry about re-registering!

We apologize for this inconvenience, but hope you can take the time to reflect on this very tangible example of climate emergency!
