finally made it 2 the theatre @bugtheatredenver my @voltairecollective debut after a bit of a hiatus - waited 4 this moment 4 two yrs 😮‍💨
4tunately only took less than 2 months 2 post about it.

still some of my favorite pictures and performance. i performed to a cover of ‘if i were a boy’ by edoardo perrone;

a letting go of my past self and how i grew up feeling bad for not being able to fit inside the box i was being put in as well as still holding love for my younger self.

sometimes i grieve the boyhood i never had, but there’s also something magickal about experiencing it now.
i wouldn’t have my story , and without it , i wouldn’t have been able to create so much beauty from it.
and the beauty is that it’s never-ending.
i don’t think i’d have as much gratitude for the little things.

feeling my facial hair.
seeing the stubble when i shave.
getting new hairs on my chest.
taking a deep breath each time i take my shirt off.
looking in the mirror and seeing a guy in whatever i do.
it can be the most minimal thing as leaning against a wall.

reminding myself of the time and love that’s put into consistently choosing myself.
it’s all real.

i can be the cali boy. bboy. loverboy. pirate. musician. chef.
the possibilities are endless because i can see myself now. so shoutout to gender affirming care. ns it’s also cool taking up space in any field

thank you to those that have been visible and continue to even when it’s not safe.
i wouldn’t have known being trans/doing drag was a possibility, which is why i do my best to do the same for others.
& thank you to everyone who’s given me an opportunity to be seen
*ik drag doesn’t equate being trans, but it allowed me to keep finding ways to see myself and its genuinely really cool to have manifested my transition through my art

from wishing to be a boy for a day and i get to everyday ?? dreams do come true

always sending love to my trans family. i am grateful and honored to be a part of such a strong community

I originally wanted to post this in regards to celebrating 6 years - 11/2 (reason for today is it’s a new moon!)

I feel like this video is representative of what drag is to me and the why.
huge shoutout to @msudenverswk for reaching out for me to perform for their social work conference.
When they mentioned for social justice, I knew the perfect number.

I’ve performed this one a few times and it felt good, and to have it celebrated in a mainstream venue. I honestly loved the music stopping because the crowd kept it going and I was able to just admire the energy in the room and feel the love.

I can’t encapsulate everything I’ve done in (over) 6 years.

My art is a culmination of my journey.
for this number — having signs I’ve made over the years, the simplicity of the fit/makeup (as long as it’s intentional!), the necklace made by @xforeverchainedx years ago that i got at @dv8distillery

It’s a bit surreal moving onto the second half of getting to a decade and I’m very proud to have been consistent with performing the whole time and being consistent with what I stand for. ESPECIALLY as a king tbh as there aren’t many i know and i think it’s important for newer kings to see that we’re still here.

To also have transitioned throughout performing and essentially manifesting myself out of drag ??
To create art that I never would’ve seen myself doing is SO beautiful and shows me that you never know what you’ll learn, so keep going.
it’s a privilege to honor my past self and to think about my future.

throwback to Decoded in the Springs where we performed our first ever numbers.
i chose my first gig 11/13/19 at Pride & Swagger - an all king open stage every Tuesday
i was 18 going to CU and remember writing them over Facebook (shoutout to my friends who brought me and came to support each time)

i had so much fun just being Vaughnz and i love seeing how similar my performance was and for it to be celebrated in both eras.
*wore the same shoes which i wore for a LOT of my early numbers.
the euphoria of manifesting my transition - little did i know i’d ever have facial hair!
