You probably heard that @kinkhao retains our Michelin Star again this year. This is our 11th year in a row with a @michelinguide star! I’m so proud of our team. But do you know what makes me even more proud than all those stars? It’s the fact that there are eleven of us still working here who were there back when we got our very first star in 2016! Eleven! In this industry, that’s a feat worth celebrating!

So we recently all got together for a cheeky photoshoot with our original Michelin star circa 2016. And of course with a little champagne toast in the middle of a work day (lol)!!

And here they are, please give them a round of applause for being so fabulous and also for putting up with me this long! Ha!

While the weather in San Francisco hasn’t been screaming SUMMER, the produce at our farmer markets are definitely singing a different tune. A joyous, sunny, summery tune! So we’re playing with a new vegan curry to celebrate that bounty. This is a Gaeng Karee, mostly referred to outside of Thailand as “yellow” curry. It’s the one a few curries that has uses curry powder in the ingredients. And of course we made both the curry paste and curry powder in-house. Gaeng Karee is so aromatic and only mildly spicy, perfect to show off the delicate flavors of summer vegetables.

In the bowl, you’ll find florets of crispy lion’s mane and maitake mushrooms, colorful carrots, bright green English peas and sweet snap peas, garnished with some ajaad pickles to brighten things up even more. Coming soon to @kinkhao near you! by @kinkhao

This new years eve we have an exciting pre fixe menu for $135 per person. The menu will include specials along with some of your favorite classics. Scallop crudo, Nam Tok Neua and Tom Yum to name a few. Choose between short rib massaman, a whole roasted fish or spiny lobster ($20 extra, for parties of 2 or more only) for your main course. We're excited to bring back Pad Kee Mao, a perennial favorite of our guests and staff alike! It's spicy, savory, and fragrant. We are only able serve this noodle while fresh Holy Basil is avaible. Thank you B+L Farms for growing this Holy Basil for us. by @kinkhao

Back on our menu for this weekend is our crowd favorite Softshell Crab Gaeng Kua. Fresh softshells lightly battered and tempura-fried, lotus roots, pole beans, in a nutty, spicy Gaeng Kua curry, topped with tangy watercress. Limited quantities each night so come early if you don’t want to miss it! by @kinkhao

In anticipation of labor union action at our building (but unrelated to our operation), Kin Khao will be closed for service today, Thursday 8/15, and tomorrow, Friday 8/16.

We hope to return to regular lunch and dinner service this weekend.

Meanwhile, if you miss our food, please visit us at our sister restaurant Nari in Japantown. Our ample lounge space is always open for walk-in guests and serves the full menu!

Our team couldn’t be happier with another Michelin star this year. Our 9th year in a row! Ninth!!

We are just so delighted and so grateful, for a chance to cook this Thai food we adore, to feed the guests who love us, and to do so with a tight team who truly enjoy working together in our happy little space here downtown.

Hello friends! Kin Khao will be adjusting our Dinner hours of operations starting Friday, June 28th. Our new hours will be:

Sunday - Thursday: 5:30 - 9pm
Friday - Saturday: 5:30 - 10pm

Lunch service is every day from 11:30am - 2pm.

We are always open for walk-ins and reservations can be made on the Resy platform. We hope to see you soon!
