Some scenes say more than what’s written 📄🎬 In this scene, a probation officer (@fionasinnott) addresses a group of ex-offenders (@dimejiewuoso & @martin.owhy) - but underneath the seemingly casual conversation are assumptions, backhanded comments and subtle microaggressions that don’t go unnoticed 👀 The final dialogue stayed remarkably close to the original script. What brought it to life was the performances - the tone, pauses, uncomfortable silences and reactions between the characters 🎭 A reminder that sometimes the most important part of a scene isn’t what’s being said. It’s what sits underneath it. We’re incredibly excited to announce our debut feature film VERCKYS has been selected for @film_london Production Finance Market (PFM) 📽️🔥 A romantic musical biopic set in DR Congo, VERCKYS tells the extraordinary story of Georges “Verckys” Kiamuangana Mateta - musician, innovator and one of the pioneers who helped shape the sound of modern African music - alongside the love story that changed his life. For us, as British-Congolese filmmakers, this is more than a film about music. It’s about love, ambition, identity and ownership - and reclaiming a piece of Congolese history that deserves to be seen on the world stage 🇨🇩🇬🇧 We can’t wait to bring Kinshasa, its music and this incredible story to life 🍿🍾 Writer/Producer @misssychelle Director @kiosasukami Big thank you to @filmtvcharity for the support 🙏🏾 Next stop: PFM! 🎬 #VERCKYS #FilmLondon #PFM #ProductionFinanceMarket #CongoleseCinema by @kiosasukami
When the balaclava ruins the mic plan… improvise 😂🎤 One of the less glamorous sides of filmmaking: figuring out where to hide a microphone when your actor is about to film a robbery scene wearing a balaclava. The solution? Clip it into his hair 😭 From getting the sound right to filming the scene and the final result 👀 It’s little problem-solving moments like this that happen constantly behind the camera, and somehow it all comes together on screen 🎬 Want to see how the rest of it came together? Watch ‘A Letter to Black Men’ on the big screen at @genesiscinema this 31st October for our next London screening 🍿 🎫 Wait List tickets SOLD OUT 🎟️ Early Bird tickets SOLD OUT ‼️ General Release tickets OUT NOW #BehindTheScenes #SoundRecordist #BlackFilmmakers #IndependentFilm #Filmmaking by @kiosasukami
