300 consecutive days riding! I never thought it was possible for me to ride 100 consecutive days much less 300. I never set a goal. I just enjoy riding. I remember being at 10 days and wondering if I could get to 21 days (3 weeks)? Then when I got to 50 I wondered if I could get to 100. Then 200, 250, and now 300 days. The easy part is the riding. The most challenging part is the mental side. No time for rest or reflection. Some days are easier than others and some days it’s hard to find a trick I want to work on. But every day I’ve found a way to find the stoke, and that’s what keeps me going. Thanks to everyone who’s liked, shared, commented and sent messages. I appreciate your continued support! Much love! ❤️

As I reflect back on this date 8 years ago we had to say goodbye to our beloved cat Turkish, I still have frustration & anger surrounding his last days. But it shouldn’t be that way.

I was asked by pro flatland rider @terryadamsbmx to emcee some @redbull demos in Orlando. I enthusiastically said yes.

A few days before the demos, Turkish’s health took a turn for the worse. But it never crossed my mind to cancel.

Demo day arrived so April & I headed down to the ACE Cafe in Orlando. I gave it my best and everything went off as it should.

But as soon as we got into the car to leave, the reality of what was ahead of us became more clear. When we arrived home Turkish was barely hanging on. We laid next to him on the floor and caressed him & said sweet things to him while April brushed his hair. We knew this was it. We both agreed it was time. We took him to the emergency vet & said our final goodbyes. The sadness was heavy as we reflected on his life.

Saturday was the big day of demos in downtown Orlando and a last minute scramble to book another demo near UCF at a bar parking lot. The demos went off as they should.

About two weeks later I hit up Red Bull to get paid. I was inbetween bank accounts at the time, so I asked them to cut me a paper check. They refused & said they only did direct deposit. No exceptions. So to this day I was never paid the $500 they owed me for those demos. I had multiple emails with them & nobody cared in helping me get paid for a gig they knew I had done.

This is in addition to them stiffing me on another gig I emceed, the Red Bull Fight With Flight contest in Indianapolis IN back in 2010, along with a separate demo for Terry and Mathias at a local YMCA.

Ultimately I’m pissed at myself because I should have handled it differently and told them sorry, I can’t make it.

So instead of simply mourning the passing of Turkish, it’s tied to the shitty feeling of getting screwed by a 25 BILLION DOLLAR company in Red Bull. It feels like they stole something more from me, because they did. More than once.

When this day rolls around each year, I get pissed all over again. To this day Red Bull has never paid me. by @kipbmx

The other night I was looking for some stickers in my sticker box and I came across these UGP team stickers Ronnie Bonner did for so many of us back in the UGP days. I knew they were in the box, but when I saw them, it just hit me different this time. I’m still extremely sad that Ron passed away almost 7 months ago. He was such a special person, but he made so many other people feel special too! This is just one example. When he handed you these stickers, not only were you stoked af but you handed them out to friends and family with pride. I was lucky enough to get 4 different stickers throughout the years. I never expected it. Each time it was a surprise. It always gave me the best feeling too! Like a cherry on top of the best ice cream sundae. In other random news, Ron introduced me to Portishead, which was released around the time I moved to Florida. I think Ron got hooked on it from @mike_altz and then I got hooked on it from Ron. So many things remind me of him. Man do I miss that dude! 🛸❤️❤️❤️

Summer of 1988 - Hard to believe this was 38 years ago! 21 Alive (Fort Wayne, IN) did a segment about our local Rad Rats BMX show we performed in downtown Angola, IN during the 4th of July weekend. This was our biggest show and at the height of BMX freestyle’s popularity in our town. While the population at the time was only around 6,000 people, we had 101 lakes in our county so during the 4th of July holiday there were over 150,000 people in the local area. I love this video because it captures the changing of the style of bikes, tricks and clothing we all wore. The sport was rapidly changing and so were we. If this video was taken just one year earlier we’d all be wearing racing leathers and jerseys.

The older I get the more I appreciate this video and our local scene which was extremely special.

200 consecutive days riding flatland! Never in my wildest dreams did I think this was possible. Back in 2016 I had a stroke which caused me to be in a 14 day coma. When I woke up, I couldn’t even stand on my own two feet. I was too weak to walk much less ride a bike. I remember laying in the hospital bed daydreaming about riding. Nothing specific, just being out there. But nothing was promised, and my return to normalcy was completely up to me along with a bit of luck. Nearly 3 months after being released from the hospital, I took my first bike ride which in itself was a huge accomplishment. A couple of weeks later my first flatland session. I felt like my legs were going to break in half! I was super dizzy and nothing felt right. I was so weak. But I kept pushing myself forward. I just tried to get a little bit stronger each day. Eventually I used flatland as my rehab, and little by little I got stronger and regained my balance a little bit each session. I fell a lot. But I kept getting up. At the 6 month mark back riding flatland I was feeling pretty good and I felt like a full recovery was possible. 10 years later I still feel residual effects mostly on my left side. But I would say I’m 100%. I was and still am really determined. Getting to 200 consecutive days didn’t happen by accident and I’ve had to prioritize riding which I’m extremely fortunate to be able to do. Now at age 52, a type 1 diabetic, and a stroke survivor, I’m out there doing what I love. I’m lucky to be alive and I’m not going to take what I love for granted. Thanks for your continued support. I really appreciate it! Ride on! 🛸🔥🔥🔥

Day 175 - Consecutive days riding. It’s been challenging to say the least. Physically I’m doing pretty good in terms of injuries but mentally, well that’s the hard part. I find motivation by learning new tricks. Many sessions with hundreds of attempts to hopefully pull a trick once. When I have a great day of riding, there’s no time to reflect. I replace consistency with exploration. Learning something new just feels good in my soul. Even if I only pull the trick once. As long as I get it on video I don’t care. Most of the time it’s a slight variation, a new ride in or a different ride out for an existing trick. Occasionally it’s something bigger. I’ll take what I can get. Like pieces to a familiar puzzle. I’m constantly pushing forward in search of that rare feeling of completing something new. The end result is the “stoke”. That’s why I ride. That’s why I love BMX and flatland. I can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings! Thank you for your continued support. Much love! 🛸🔥🔥🔥

Day 150!

Sunday 4/26/2026 was my 150th consecutive day of riding flatland! The last time I took a day off was Thanksgiving.

Two things that were out of my hands were my health and the weather. My health was good with no major injuries and I only had one all day rain situation which I rode my shortest amount of time for only 40 min. All the other days were filled with 2-3 hour sessions with a rare 4 hour session here and there.

This streak of 150 days has really pushed me far beyond anything I’ve done before. It’s harder than any competition I’ve entered, or any trick I’ve learned. To get out there and ride, even on days I didn’t feel like it, especially at age 52, as a type 1 Diabetic has been challenging, but well worth it. I was able to learn at least one new trick every day I rode, and in many cases I learned 2-3 tricks per session.

The hunt for learning new tricks is what keeps me going. If I do tricks I mastered years ago my brain is kind of on cruise control. But when I work on something new the challenge of it keeps me focused and in the moment. Learning new stuff is a process you have to embrace. Trying something over and over until you can hopefully figure it out can be exhausting. Sometimes it’s just mixing an old trick with a new rideout, or a new ride in with a base trick I can already do. But the feeling I get when I learn something new is one of the best feelings. There’s nothing that compares to it. But I always find a way to have fun, no matter what... and I’m always glad I rode instead of taking the day off.

As I type this I’ve already completed day 151 and today (Tuesday) will be day 152, I have no idea how long I’m going to keep this streak going. As of right now I’ll keep going as long as I physically can. I typically post my highlights from each day’s riding session in my Facebook and Instagram stories. So if you want to see what I’m up to as the streak continues you can find me there. I want to thank you guys for your continued support! I really appreciate it!

Sincerely, Kip

Sunday April 12th 2026 = Day no. 136 of consecutive days riding.

It was a super nice day today and the weather was perfect! I started out working on a new trick for about 30 min and didn’t get far with it. So I moved on to the tricks you see in the video. I’ll continue to work on it and see if I can pull it through somewhere down the line. I had fun working on a few random tricks. Nothing too crazy but collectively these were fun. No crashes today so that was a bonus. Looking forward to some 80° weather this week! 🛸🔥🔥🔥

Day 132 of consecutive days riding and it was a wet one. I only rode for about 30 min because it was pretty hard to do much of anything in the rainy conditions. That said I wanted to keep the streak alive so mission accomplished. I haven’t ridden in the rain in over 20 years and now I remember why. I’m looking forward to dryer conditions so I can get back to working on new tricks. Thanks for your support! 🙏🏼👊🏼🤙🏼🛸🔥🔥🔥

Finally some good news! I received word back in early March from the Florida BMX Foundation that I was nominated for the Florida BMX Hall Of Fame for the “Freestyle” category. I didn’t want to say anything until it was official and that happened yesterday.

What an honor! Just being nominated is one of, if not the biggest accomplishment in my 40 year BMX riding career!

I wanted to thank all of the riders I’ve met through the years. I’ve been reflecting on the different stages I’ve gone through as a rider. It’s been a serious trip down memory lane. Thank you for being a part of my journey.

I’d like to thank the FL BMX Foundation for including freestyle and getting everything set up for the FLBMXHOF. I’d like to thank my girlfriend April who’s been there for most of my career in FL and always been incredibly supportive. I’d like to thank my mom and dad for financially helping me afford the bikes when I was a kid, and for driving me to all of the shows and contests before I could do it myself. In addition my mom always offered her support for what I was doing long before it was something cool. My friends and I used to get a hard time for riding our bikes back in the 80s. Coaches, teachers, and fellow students ridiculed and scoffed at what we did. Even at age 16 people would drive by our riding spot and yell “get a job”. Sometimes they’d throw stuff at us which would result in many a fight. Looking back I think those who supported me, and even those that didn’t played some sort of valuable role.

One thing’s for sure, I never could have dreamt I would be nominated for the FL BMX HOF. Whether I’m inducted or not, just being nominated is such an incredibly humbling experience. 40 years of living the BMX dream and still going strong! Much love! Sincerely, Kip 🛸🔥🔥🔥

Here’s a few tricks from day #123 and #124 of my consecutive day riding streak. I try to work on different tricks every day. Sometimes I learn something new while other times I just try to find ways to rearrange tricks I can already do and create a new combo. Either way it keeps things fresh and helps keep my mind focused. My goal is to be stoked at the end of every session. Thanks for your support! Ride on! 🛸🔥🔥🔥 by @kipbmx
