this building is 123 years old and has a better comeback story than your best friend’s ex ｡°🚂༄｡°

meet the nampa train depot — built in 1903, ran passengers and freight until 1925, then almost got demolished in the 70s because people had no taste…thankfully some locals said “absolutely tf not” and saved it.

it's considered one of the finest examples of baroque revival architecture in the area, which is fancy talk for "look at those arches and that brickwork”. FUN FACT: nampa's streets run diagonal instead of a grid because the town founder laid them perpendicular to the train tracks after witnessing a train accident somewhere else. the ghost walk calls it "the tragedy that skewed downtown streets"

oh and apparently there’s a ghost named charlie?? hiii charlie 👻

listed on the national register of historic places since 1972, it’s now the canyon county historical museum! inside you’ll find: volunteer-led tours, railroad artifacts, pieces of the dewey palace hotel, and you get to sit in an old passenger car!!! A very cool visit if you like trains & pretty buildings! ᥫ᭡.

we went on boise’s haunted history tour last night — turns out the history is the really scary part lol 👻

things i was surprised to learn: the old penitentiary ran 101 years and inmates built it themselves! one of our go-to bars used to be a brothel (Mulligans), bodies floated down the street from the Pioneer Cemetery during floods so they built a flume to contain them, and the egyptian theatre has STORIES…
