2023:
Wrapped up my athletic career, had some really cool ministry opportunities, became an uncle, broke my shoulder, fixed my shoulder, graduated from college, moved to Colorado, had my car stolen and drove this golden chariot for a while, and moved in with these great guys. Next year will be different from this year, just like this year was different from last year. But the Lord God is the same from year to year and He will walk every step with me forever. by @kirbygenethethird

Carter Station Meeting House ⛪️

This little church was one of the first to invite me to come in and preach on occasion. They took a chance on me, an inexperienced college student with almost no idea how to do this preaching thing. Lynn and the others have loved me and welcomed me as their own every time I have come to be with them. Today was my last guaranteed time with them.

They have provided me opportunities to preach, but most importantly they have given me encouragement and confidence for the future God has called me to. I love these people, and they are just one of the many expressions of God's Church around the world.

Not like my usual posts, but I wanted to share.

The past two days have been two of the most refreshing and restful days I've had in a very long time. I realized this as I took a long walk in a park this afternoon (which is where these photos come from).

I began to realize that while I wasn't searching for refreshment, I was experiencing it through the slower pace that I was living the day at and the activities that I was doing. All things that seem ordinary, but it's what my soul needs the most.

Waking up late on a Saturday, drinking coffee, preparing a sermon, throwing darts with dad, eating a meal with extended family, reading a book, worshiping at church, going for a walk, taking the Lord's Supper.

Hidden in these things are spiritual disciplines: silence and solitude, fellowship, prayer, worship, meditation.

I'm thankful for a God who leads me beside still waters and really refreshes my soul.

I've found that slowness is a posture, and unless you prioritize it, you'll find yourself with a hurried soul and a tired spirit. Walk slowly with the Lord, and like it's described on the bell, He will give you peace. taken in Coram Deo by @kirbygenethethird

SHORE WARS 2023

I was super blessed to be able to lead the sessions for FBC Morristown's youth boys spiritual retreat weekend.

Ephesians 5:11 And do not participate in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead even EXPOSE THEM.

The Christian life is a battle, and we fight against the darkness that surrounds our world. But we fight from victory because Jesus is on our side.

Lord, Your will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven

I had the opportunity to speak at Carson-Newman's chapel service. I shared Jesus with my school, both friends and strangers alike.

At the end of the day, who is Jesus and what can He do?
He is the Son of God and He takes what is dead and broken and gives it new life.

I was once dead and He made me alive.

I will forever be thankful for that.
