For those of you who don't know me very well outside of conventions and cosplays, I wanted to make a proper introduction post! (A few years overdo, I know!)

My name is Nik and I am a writer! I recently published my first book just last November, coming up on my very first anniversary, which is a huge deal for me. My first novel is called Bounds of the Forest, which is both in print and an ebook! Both of which were formatted, designed, advertised, and everything done in between, by me. And well, looked over by those who are willing to help when I'm overwhelmed and unsure.

I love writing with all my heart. I even still write fanfiction on #ao3 or as you might know it as #archiveofourown cause I like the feeling of practice without the commitment of too much character development. I've been writing for about fifteen years consistently. And I'll probably be doing it for the rest of my lifetime.

If you're interested in a cute romance with a strong nonbinary main character, Bounds of the Forest is a good start! I'm doing my best to mention my work a bit more often and decided to make this post with the photo from the day I dropped off my books at my very first book shop in Lowell, MA called Lala Books! I was so excited and I'm still on the high of seeing my work in bookshops, hoping they'll be everywhere someday!

I hope everyone who sees this takes a chance on my work! My next book is a short story collection coming out on November 10th, marking another published book in the month of November!

On Saturday, we chose to have a good day. Except the boots, they chose a different path 😂

But on September 22nd, my fifth book drops and that's basically everything I am doing for the rest of the month. If you like dark romance and fantasy, obsessed gods, justice, and all sorts of drama, you'll absolutely love Where No Gods Reign. ❤️‍🔥

There is just something magical about this convention in particular. Even this year. I wandered around Sunday morning, a little more lost than usual due to a hectic weekend, and stumbled into a room where they just served tea. And honestly. It was everything to me. It reminded me how unique the energy is at AAC and why I love it so much.

Not even just that, but our staples to this convention; the cupcake lady, the friends we see every year (here's looking at you Nick!), the new things to discover (the soda stall which was amazing???), and as always, my biggest weakness, the artist alley. If I could tag all of you I would, but I tried to place your cards near your merch as best as I could!

A couple of hours to wander Lowell with a good friend (who took these amazing photos holy FUCK), a solid coffee, making bracelets, and yapping to other cosplayers was needed. @shop_pop_cultured, thanks for the killer time! Definitely needed to get outside this weekend.

Pictured is a sneak peak of one of my upcoming reels; my Mokona purse, my King of the Hill bag hiding my sourdough foccaccia from the farmers market (shoutout to Watersbreadco!), a fluffy campfire latte from Cafe Eclipse, and not pictured is my walking scone.

But, I want to be straight forward about a couple of things.

One, I do try to keep my cosplay account and my writing account seperate, but I fail at that. A lot. Hard to not yap about my writing shenanigans. Especially when it's something I've done my whole life and take immense pride in, even when not everyone likes what I make. I've seen an odd rise in the last year with folks being openly (as well as quietly) disrespectful about my nonbinary romance/fantasy books.

Two, I am sad. Really sad. A lot. I still find myself in some state of mourning after losing our pets, catching the stray tears here and there, and do my best not to let it get to me. I have a senior citizen creature at home who needs me now more than ever.

Three, I decided to side quest a lot more. Small things. I started making reels to start. In order to help my writing account grow, show people like me and otherwise, that they aren't alone. That every step forward counts.

And four, consider this your sign to side quest. Even if you do it alone. Sometimes you're better off.

Why water yourself down for someone else, after all?
