Decided to give my Halloween decor a bit of a bling look this year. I really love the way this first piece turned out. I have three more pieces I’m working on, but I’ve loved creating this one. I love the way the colors reflect off each other and the way it looks when the light hits it.

I’ve always loved decorating for the holidays, and I like to make things that feel uniquely me. I’m spending most of the Halloween season working on 3 big gigs, so these decorations are gonna go into my work room so I can enjoy them.

Been working on this for the last couple weeks. I was inspired by an arrangement florist Jeff Leathan created. Progress has been made, and I’m really happy with how it looks. I still have 3 more sunflowers to do, and I want to order more of the bigger stones for the vase.

I ordered some crystals for the centers, but I’m still undecided. They come today and then I’ll see how I feel. I have three more flowers to finish, and once I get the vase tomorrow I’ll decide what length I want the stems. I also have some other ss16 round yellow and green crystals I might add. It’s fun to let the piece itself move me as I create, and as I see it when the light hits it and how it makes me feel.

When I was taking these picture, it reminded me of Van Gough and his beautiful sunflowers. I’m so glad I chose these crystals and colors. I love his art and I think I was subconsciously inspired his work when I decided to do the crystals in this pallet instead of the original colorful rainbow and whimsical inspiration.

I love whimsical and dopamine decor, but I always lean into a more sophisticated energy. I like to have colors and patterns, and mix things in an unexpected way. I also can get over stimulated, so a lot of dopamine space will overwhelm me in the long run. So for me it’s been about finding that balance in a space and not losing my whimsy. Elegance and sophistication is always my goal in a space, but I think it can still be fun, I think it can still have a bit of a silliness to it.

The last but most important room in the condo is the bedroom. I think it’s important to keep a space neutral. But neutral doesn’t mean barren. So painting the walls the same creamy ivory as the living room and kitchen. I think I want one wall painted a mocha chocolatey brow. Either having it just a painted accent wall or adding some detail. It has a small window in the corner of the room, it brings in some light and I’d like to put in some cream black out curtains with a bit of texture and dimension. And currently there isn’t an overhead light, but I plan to add one. A bedroom should feel like a sanctuary and somewhere you can relax in.

The goal is to create an apartment and space that people want to spend time in, and to fight against the current state of rentals that look like sterile clinical white and grey spaces. Using Quality materials that are made to last, and put in with care and skill. Where someone chooses to live is very important, and should be treated as such.

The bathroom in the condo needs a new shower and a new toilet, and I wanted to upgrade the fixtures. I fell in love with these blue tiled showers. I wanted a really calming soothing blue. I’ll be painting the walls a soft pale blue. I wanted to have a few options for lighting in the space. Love these modern lighted mirrors. I also think shelving is important in a bathroom.

Since it’s a small space I wanted everything that we put in to have an impact. It has to be aesthetically pleasing AND useful. I wanted it to feel modern and fresh, while still feeling classic.

I’m using a lot of warm tones in the space so I wanted one room to be a little cooler. I also wanted a little color even in a mostly neutral space.

Starting to get ready to upgrade and renovate my condo and get it ready to rent. I thought I’d share some of the mood boards and vision for the space. It’s a one bedroom one bathroom condo. It has really beautiful wood floors and cabinets already stained in a golden oak. So the plan is to create a warm calming space that enhances and celebrates the wood instead of fighting it.

For paint, I want a warm creamy ivory on the walls in the living room, kitchen and bedroom.

I am thinking of adding architectural details to the wall in the hallway, and maybe the back of the kitchen counter. I plan to bring in multiple light fixtures into the space that add character, and give you options for the mood of the room. Putting a ceiling fan light combo in the living room. In the kitchen, I plan to upgrade the counters to a stone, with a complimentary backsplash.

I’m really excited to develop and share this space with everyone. It’s been a dream and goal of mine for many years, and I’m excited to finally make it happen.

It’s not always pretty, but I love having multi level pieces to utilize a desk space the best way possible and still keep everything organized and easy to find.

I do think there is a way that style and aesthetic can meet with function. A work space can be beautiful and still be functional, if you are intentional. I’ve been trying to cultivate and curate a beautiful space that I love to work in every day.

I’ve loved finding pieces for my desk, and ways to make things easy to grab and accessible. I’m someone who hates drawers. I like things where I can see them and organized in a way that I know if something is missing or a supply needs to be refilled. When I’m working, I wanna be able to grab and go, and not have to hunt for things.

I fell in love with these different green acrylic pieces. They feel old fashioned and a little glamorous. My work shop is a bit clinical and stark, and since it’s on a campus, I can’t paint or change too much, I have to keep the wire utility shelves that were already there. So I have to bring in the magic in small and clever ways.

Working on a new vision for the laundry room. Better organization and finding a place for everything. Tying it into the rest of the work room by using natural materials like marble, wood, woven baskets. Tying things in with the color green, which has always been calming to me.

For me the key to any task oriented space where multiple people work is that it needs to be accessible and specific. This is a space that has stressed me out a bit, so I’m excited to finally get it taken care of. Getting rid of the things we don’t use and making the things we do use accessible.

More art prints for my Shakespearean gallery wall in my work room. I’m so excited for the work room to come together. I spend a lot of time in the space and it’s very clinical, so in the ways that I can and the areas that I can I wanted to add some whiskey and ground it in color, natural materials, and texture. I’ve also been trying to organize the space in a way that really makes sense to me for the volume of work that we do, and the way we need to access things.

I’m excited to share the space with everyone, and curate it to enhance my creativity.

Getting my desk refreshed and reorganized for a new start to a new year on campus. I’m so excited to work in a reorganized space. I do want to obviously curate this space over time, but I wanted to start with a great base. Organization is so important to me, especially in a work space. I like everything to have a clear place and a purpose. Aesthetic and function should be equally important.

What are your must haves in your work space.

New art for my on campus workspace. I wanted to give it a bit of an old fashioned academia vibe, something that feels like your favorite English teacher’s space. I have one wall I can have a bit of a gallery space. I’m excited to curate the space. I sometimes spend 10-12 hours in the shop working so I decided I am going to make it nice.

Since it’s a work space I do want most of the things I bring in to have a function or purpose. Looking to add texture and natural materials to the space.
