This has been our longest assignment yet in our military journey, and it will also the hardest one to say goodbye to.

I came to Texas as a Staff Sergeant, and I’m leaving as a Master Sergeant Select. When I think about everything that happened between those two ranks, I realize just how much life we have lived here and how much this assignment has shaped me, not only as an Airman and leader, but as a person.

I am incredibly thankful, humbled, and grateful for every opportunity, challenge, lesson, and experience along the way. And somewhere in the middle of all of it, I kicked a two-year battle with cancer’s ass. 🎗️💪🏼 I fought one of the hardest battles of my life and came out on the other side with an entirely different appreciation for life, family, friendship, and the opportunity to keep serving.

To every mentor, supervisor, leader, peer, teammate, and friend who poured into me, challenged me, believed in me, and supported me along the way, thank you. So many of you have left a mark on my career and my life, and I’ll carry those lessons and friendships with me wherever we go.

Texas gave our family so much more than an assignment. It gave us friendships that became family, memories we’ll talk about for years, and a place that truly became home. This has hands down been the best assignment of my career, and saying goodbye will definitely be bittersweet.

But that’s military life, eventually, it’s time for the next chapter. And I couldn’t be more excited or grateful for the opportunity ahead. I’m heading to Falls Church, Virginia, in Jan to Air Force Medical Command to work with the True North+ Program Management Office, and I am beyond excited to learn, grow, and see where this next opportunity takes me.
