Always looking for a quick after-school fix for two hungry teens.

Found these Guerrero tortillas at the supermarket and turned them into quesadillas fritas de papa y queso: potato, plenty of cheese, folded, pan-fried and gone in minutes.

Playing with your food is part of the job.

I brought some Perino tomatoes into the new Kitchen Studio to make a short animation. Beautiful ingredients give you plenty to work with: colour, shape, texture, and the way they move.

I shot this with wooden backgrounds and ceramics made by hand here in the studio. It’s the kind of work I love making, starting with a good ingredient and seeing what it can do on camera.

Animations for more yum.

Sometimes a still just isn’t enough.

Sticky toffee pudding, warm sauce, a little movement and suddenly you can almost taste it.

We create food photography and short-form animation for restaurants, hotels and hospitality brands that want their content to feel as good as the food looks.

Based in Newcastle and available for Sydney shoots.

Notes from the Studio 03

A distinctive image starts with considered choices.

We make many of our own wooden backgrounds, building up layers of paint, texture and patina by hand to create surfaces with depth, character and individuality.

We also handcraft ceramics specifically for shoots, giving us control over shape, colour, scale and finish.

It means we’re not starting with the same collection of off-the-shelf props and backgrounds as everyone else. We can build a visual world around the product and create imagery with a quality and individuality that is much harder to replicate.

For Nuffin, that approach felt particularly appropriate. They’ve put real thought into every part of the product, including their commercially compostable paper tubs, designed as an alternative to conventional plastic packaging.

A considered product deserves considered imagery.
