Very first ferments with the new Spica fermentation crocks I’ll be releasing in November.

This one is mine — the tiniest and wonkiest of its siblings — but I’m excited to show you how big and and gorgeous the others are.

Spica rises tomorrow morning at dawn, here in Montreal. These crocks will be washed under its rays to bring abundance to the home they are kept in.

If you’ve been wondering what’s been going on at the studio…

What a crazy couple of weeks. Thank you all!

Jupiter bowls are packed up and ready to go, Hekate launch went swimmingly and is being packed today, and the new booklet, Open the Way!, had a very warm reception.

I’ll be starting on stringing the Ladders of Nyktiboos — of which only two more are available — this weekend, and they’ll be heading out next week. If you want one before I get swept away to more obligations, now is the time to place your order.

Much more busy-ness ahead, but of a different sort! Much love to all of you.

Cheers,
Mahigan

Putting some of that road-opener powder from Open the Way! to use. The recipe is in this post if you can zoom in real close, but the method of consecration is only for those who’ve purchased the booklet ;)

Find it in the usual places.

Open the Way! is a 60-page booklet containing all of our trade secrets when it comes to road-opening, that elusive yet essential concept that serves as the engine to most if not all magical practices. My approach for all of our booklets is no-nonsense and above all, practical. Most if not everything you will find within is meant to be possible for those of us who only have a dollar store, a grocery store, and a hardware supply available to us.

Within Open the Way! you will find:

Explorations on the concept of road-opening

When is road-opening used?

The history of road-opener vs blockbuster formulas

When to use on over the other?

A road-opening candle

Working with Saint Peter

Saint Peter’s altar & offerings

Setting a road-opening candle to Saint Peter

A recipe for kutmach

A ritual for road-opening powder

A recipe for a road-opening bath

A recipe for a road-opening oil

A working with a 6 of Diamonds and Pentacles of Mercury

My personal Luck on My Roads Bag recipe

A variety of prayers, psalms, and invocations for road-opening work

And lots more!

This is a digital download, and you will receive immediate access to the text after checking out.

Ah, yes. The unglamorous.

I’ve been keeping busy with launch prep and production. This is the third week in a row where I don’t take the weekend off 🥲

Sure, witchcraft is fun, but the business side of things also means hours bottling and cutting labels, washing 50 bowls by hand. Twice. 17 hours glazing bowls over three days, sifting powders for two hours while wearing uncomfortable respirators, testing new glazes, and running amok trying to also keep up with doctors’ appointments, clinics that won’t pick up the phone, power outages, and the literal government hunting you down about a bank account that hasn’t existed in 7 years.

I am very tired. I know I’m behind on service recaps, I know I said I’d ship stuff last week.

The work is fulfilling, but doing it alone means I have to prioritize, and that things take longer than expected 60% of the time. I’m forever grateful for your patience.

The next few days is order fulfilment and client work, so get your orders in now so they can go out this week!

With the fresh restock of Kleidochos Road-Opener and Brimo’s Keep oils, I thought I might also take a moment to talk about the oils themselves - not just what they do.

Some notes:
All of our oils use a base of Grapeseed oil. This gives them a light quality that is better for infusing herbal material into. This oil is non-comodogenic, absorbs readily into the skin, and doesn’t get gunky as quickly as olive, apricot, or almond oils. This oil also has an extremely high smoke point, which means it doesn’t make your candles flare up and throw off a bunch of soot like other spell oil might. It is also hypoallergenic.

All of our oils are fragrance-free unless otherwise stated. It does happen that certain spirits request perfume or some sort of scent to be added to the oil, and it happens that I like to pull on the olfactory sense to evoke a certain feeling or image when crafting an oil. In 95% of cases, though, the only scent you’ll get from our oils is that of the botanicals infused in them.

90% of the herbal, mineral, and animal components included in our oils is harvested by my hand, with considerations for ritual and proper timing. If you want to know what that means, I talk about it at length in my « When the Time is Right » class, which you can find on the site.

Every single oil is prayed over, consecrated, and blessed in some way. Sometimes, that’s as simple as prayer; other times it is a months-long ritual that allows for the fixing of certain spirits within. This might include being exposed to certain stellar bodies, being buried for a length of days, being set on fire, having certain songs sung over it, etc. Nothing leaves the workshop without being properly enchanted.

If you want to know more about using spiritual oils, I have an entire how-to page on the site with ideas for use, indications for how much to use for each application, where to apply it on the body, etc...

Kleidochos and Brimo oils, as well as our new Meisopomenos oil are all available now!

This batch of Brimo’s Keep oil was made during August’s Hekate Brimo Protection Community Ritual. Its matching powder has also been restocked.

Brimo’s Keep Oil is our personal take on the classic Fiery Wall of Protection formula, with some improvements; it is an impenetrable defense against all malice and negativity sent your way, while also serving to destroy or return hexes and curses of all kinds. Brimo’s Keep Oil takes the adage of « a strong offense is the best defense » to heart. This oil establishes a high wall of fire around whatever it is meant to protect, while lashing out and incinerating all that means harm or evil in the blink of an eye. Fueled by Hekate Brimo’s wrath and born of Mars’ fires, this oil contains only the best materia.

This oil is crafted from the combination of multiple plant and insect materials: The remains of Carpenter Bees; Nettle; Chiles, dried by the Sun; Dandelion Root, collected from the gate of a cemetery, and other such things.

Use this oil in times of psychic attack, or when under the influence of a malicious spirit. Anoint the doors, mirrors and windowsills to shield the home from harm, or dab on your clothing to protect yourself from day-to-day malice. Hang paper talismans along windows and anoint to destroy hexes sent your way. Use to dress candles for protection, but also to destroy hexes and curses sent to you, or to send them back with more strength than they brought.

The Oil of Hekate Meisopomenos is essentially a 3-month process of forming pacts with each of the 28 Lunar Mansions, capturing their spirits, and hiring the spirits necessary to dispense this power. This allows the oil to serve at once as a home for the spirits, as a beacon of attraction to Lunar rays, and as shackles to ensure that the spirits may remain and continue to work. This allows this oil to serve as a means of moving past simple prescriptive talismanic magic into more witching, sorcerous, and folk magical approaches to working with the Lunar Mansions, without the trappings of complicated ceremonial magic.

What this means at its simplest is that a drop of this oil will empower and multiply the power of any and all talisman or working of the Lunar Mansions, while also causing their effects to last longer, and to act faster. With observance, the oil will allow the witch to enter into relationship with the spirits of the Mansions, known and unknown, and to learn the ways in which their names must be spoken to sorcerous effect. It also allows to forego the use of talismans as primary point of contact to these spirits, allowing the witch to incorporate them into simpler, dirtier, or more inspired magics than those prescribed by the bounds of traditional works.

Each bottle is accompanied by a document detailing the names, images, stars, herbs, dominions, and workings of the Lunar Mansions as they appear in my personal work, for ease of reference and incorporation into one’s own craft.

Available now. Learn more on the site.

If you have ever wondered what it is that empowers 90% of our community rituals with Hekate, it is the Ladder of Nyktibioos — the Night-Crier.

Night-Crier! Bull-faced! Loving solitude! Bull-headed!
You have the eyes of bulls, the voice of dogs;
You hide your forms in the shanks of lions;
Your ankle is wolf-shaped;
fierce dogs are dear to you
And so they call you Hekate!

Made from antique, hand-hammered native copper, river pearl, ceramic, and silver, punctuated by a hagstone collected by the hand of my own mother with offering and devotion to the Mother of Oceans.

The Ladder is accompanied by its ritual instructions, which include a lengthy call to Hekate herself, but also to the Moon herself, to the constellation of the Great Bear as the one who turns the Pole, to Selene and to Artemis, and to dozens of Hekate’s individual epithets. You can hear me reciting part of it in this post.

The rite is simple and serves to all purposes, whether to call her to witness further work, to stir her to action, to enter into trance-states to learn of her retinues, to call spirits who walk by her side, to empower workings, talismans, and formulas, and any and all other situations where her presence, intercession, and power are desired.
