@ydwer has landed the most cover shots on Kiteworld, with a total of 19. I'll never forget the first submission we received from the Dutchman, which immediately earned him his first cover shot of Bram Bast on issue #46, in 2010. Are we seeing the biggest step forward in kite design since the introduction of the bow kite in 2005? New material development is a huge advance, but is a new, more expensive breed of kite really necessary? Over the last 18 years Cape Town has been like a second home to Kiteworld editor, Jim Gaunt, and he’s a regular visitor to the @airushkiteboarding ‘lab’ when there. The six winners of the Red Bull Megaloop Porsche Qualifier Series have been announced. Out of 18 qualitative video entries, these six riders have been selected by the Red Bull Megaloop Sports Committee and they will be added to the final riders list for the 2022 edition. The winners of Red Bull Megaloop Porsche Qualifier Series are: • Lorenzo Casati – Italy • Cohan van Dijk – Netherlands • Jason van der Spuy – South Africa • Andrea Principi – Italy • Jamie Overbeek – Netherlands • Luca Ceruti – South Africa Red Bull Megaloop will take place at the Spot, Zandvoort Beach, the Netherlands when the right storm hits the Dutch coast. With winds above 35 knots, these kiteboarders will show their biggest and best megaloops. There are very few people in the sport today as involved at such a high riding and business level, who can also reach back into the dusty vaults of their memory to the time they were one of the very first World Champions. In 2006 we asked @shinn_mark to start a column in which he would have free rein (more or less!) to discuss various hot topics from behind the scenes in the kitesurfing industry and bring them to the interest of every day riders. While he may often have pushed the boundaries of how far a deadline could actually be extended before an editor’s head imploded, we are incredibly grateful to Mark for his continued commitment to producing his Mark My Words columns. He has entertained, taught and inspired us each and every issue. Two days before final cut off (which is historically early for Mark), Mr Shinn succeeds in being both the most consistent contributor to Kiteworld (with 98 consecutive columns), but also the last contributor to submit to the magazine.
