Hello world! This is Misa 🩷

Those of you who know me well, know that Haku came into my life at a time when my mental health was at its lowest. You saw the impact she had on me, truly showing the power of what an ESA companion can do. Additionally, you saw the toll it had on me when she passed. I love her so much and I miss her every day. I wasn’t sure when or if I would ever be ready to bring another ferret (or any pet) into my life.

Then, October 3, I found myself drawn into the pet store, which I had done many times before, just to look at the ferrets and feel that little bit of joy seeing them without having to risk an attachment. However, this little girl had other plans for me. Just as Haku had, she was following my movements as I walked around the enclosure, she even gave me a little smile (2nd photo). I left the store, called my mom, and cried to her about how I wasn’t ready.

I then spent the rest of that night crying and thinking about this little munchkin, feeling guilty for even considering another ferret, and trying to convince myself that I wasn’t going to get her.

Night turned into morning and there I was again, drawn back to the pet store. Just to confirm that I was making the right choice by not getting her. Then I held her for the first time, she nuzzled her way up to my shoulder, and again, just as Haku had, tried to go after my glasses. Needless to say, I didn’t leave the store without her again.

While I know she is not the same as Haku, I see so many similarities with her and it brings me some peace. I also know that I won’t ever forget Haku and I will always grieve her, but I truly believe that this little girl was sent to me to help me heal in some way.

Anyways, enough rambling from me. This is Misa Lin, the newest addition to the family 💕 by @kitkatt1023

The day I have dreaded the most is finally here. Today, March 2, 2024 at 2:56pm, I held my sweet girl as she crossed over the rainbow bridge. I am heartbroken and a little lost. This sweet girl became my whole heart and somehow almost 8 years feels both like a lifetime and like the blink of an eye. From the day she picked me to be her mommy at the store, to fighting to register her as an ESA, to taking her all through college, to everything since and in between, she has been my sweetest little love. I’m not quite sure what to do now, how I will feel without her kisses and her cuddles and even her trying to bite my toes. I’m so sad but I know she is at peace. I love you, tater tot.
