Baby’s first Washington Post byline! This fall kids book preview includes 32 suggestions, picture books to YA, a little something for a range of readers. This was a big chunk of my summer’s reading and, yup, I gleefully trotted around the neighborhood picking up extra copies from kind neighbors. Lmk which book(s!) caught your eye!

Huge thanks to NK @washingtonpost for the opportunity and h/t to my (writing) partner in crime, @sylvie_shaffer !

🎉BIG NEWS! 🎉 I built a library collection for The 81st St. Studio at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and we open to the public this Saturday! I hope you’ll come explore this exceptional, STEM-themed, *free* drop-in discovery and play space for kids ages 3-11 and their caregivers. This project was an absolute joy and I can’t wait to share more about it!

Zero chill when it comes to this series, and book 3 is no exception. @katherine.rundell delivers another sophisticated page-turner with all the exquisite turns of phrase and plot-twists you’ve come to expect from Impossible Creatures. For a deeper dive, check out the Educators’ Guide I created for @rhcbteacherslibrarians — the book is out 9/1!

Are you following Fat Marmot Week? Researchers at the Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory (RMBL) made international news this summer with the creation of an 0nlyFans account — OnlyMarms — after funding losses. Their marmot study is the second longest running of individually marked mammals in the world, only following Jane Goodall’s chimp work!

RMBL is dear to my heart, and I had the recent privilege of building a children’s library collection to support their K-12 education programming. Themes included watersheds (so many beaver ponds nearby!), hummingbirds, pollinators, wildflowers, systems thinking, and, yes!, small mammals. I loved the project so much I got trained to be a RMBL docent, so look for me (and my backpack of books) to be yapping at visitors on nearby trails next summer!

Thanks to @rocky_mountain_bio_lab for the opportunity, and for almost 100 years of exceptional scientific research & education! by @kitonlit
