Music Inn: un pedazo vivo de la historia musical de Greenwich Village.

Jeff Slatnick es el propietario de Music Inn, ubicada en el 169 W. 4th Street, en el corazón de Greenwich Village.

A solo unos pasos, en el número 161, vivió Bob Dylan desde 1961 hasta finales de 1964. Y justo en la esquina de Jones Street, frente a la tienda, se tomó la icónica fotografía de la portada de The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan.

Music Inn abrió sus puertas en 1958. Antes de eso, los músicos del Village tenían que ir hasta la calle 48 simplemente para cambiar las cuerdas de sus guitarras. Muy pronto, la tienda se convirtió en un punto de encuentro para la comunidad musical. Además de instrumentos, vendía discos, que en aquella época eran prácticamente la única manera de descubrir música nueva.

Entrar en Music Inn es como viajar en el tiempo. Rodeada hoy por negocios que no existían durante la época dorada de Greenwich Village, la tienda conserva el espíritu del barrio que inspiró a artistas como Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell y muchos otros.

Jeff Slatnick is the owner of Music Inn, located at 169 W. 4th Street in the heart of Greenwich Village.

Just a few doors away, at 161 W. 4th Street, Bob Dylan lived from 1961 until late 1964. And right around the corner on Jones Street, directly across from the shop, the iconic cover photo for The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan was taken.

Music Inn opened its doors in 1958. Before then, Village musicians had to travel all the way to 48th Street just to replace their guitar strings. It quickly became a gathering place for the neighborhood’s music community. The store also sold records, which at the time were one of the few ways people could discover new music.

Walking into Music Inn feels like stepping into a time capsule.
